Poll: what do you think

Just wander what other simmers might think/wish MS was working on as there highlights of there next version taking in fact that all bugs of FS9 get fixed? In FS9 it was the weather engine, the new GPS, the Learning Center and the clickable VC's that made the press releases. My list for FS10 would include dramatically improved ATC procedures, functions and new features, new voice files with international dialects, and pilot controlled lighting.

I would have to say I hope they improve the weather a little more so the clouds aren't so hard on framerates... Do away with the dancing mountains when flying at high altitudes. ATC that took into account proper SID/STAR procedures and airspace (Class C or D, etc.) regulations for various airports. ATC should scold you when your speed is over 250kts under 10,000ft. AI improvements should be made in spacing aircraft on landing approaches. ATC should maintain real spacing of aircraft cruising at high altitudes and vector aircraft appropriately in danger of midair collisions. ATC shouldn't just tell you there is an aircraft at your 9 o

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

>Sky should get considerably darker as you climb to the higher altitudes (heck, allow us to go into space ). 101% Agree. Would it be that terribly hard to model? X-plane does it, IL-2 Sturmovik, FUIII... your turn Microsoft. :+

SIDs and STARs and gate numbers or marshallers would be nice.

I would like to add something to that, which for MS would be a new feature, which is an animated environment meaning marshallers, active ground and ramp vehicles, active people, animals and auto gen. This would not be static stuff and the technology exist for this but at a frame hit so if FS were to take a stab at this and make it where it was the same kind of frame hit that you get with there new weather and able to select it and to a certain precentage then it would be a great new feature for the out of the box version. I'm not talking about eye candy although some of it would be that but think of flying low and see a farmer moving a field and kicking up dust and being able to see which way the wind is blowing from that or ordering fuel and having the fuel truck come to your plane or a follow me turck and for the big tin the whole ground service there without tuning a freq or what not. You see only what is needed for effect like people that are doing a service and not just being eye candy with no purpose and wildlife is for bird strikes and for fields that are out in the bush. However the biggest thing for me still would be to improve ATC dramatically with all the procedures that the real ATC use including new features like FSS for flight plan calls, DP's, STARs, holds, speed restrictions, proper seperation, better ground routing/clearances for less back ups are just a few to name.

YAW....Fix the yaw already. :)hehe__Josh

Hi,You gave a very good very lengthy list about a month ago on this subject Nathan. I'm not trying to say there's anything wrong with bringing it up again. I just mention it because I thought your previous list was really good!Things Id like to see...1) Fix the severe/abrupt winds aloft when using real-world weather. :-boom2) How about a career mode. You know, like where you have to pass the pilot tests then you can pilot some people that want to be taken up to the ski area. Then you pass some more tests and become a pilot for a small commuter airlines. Then you pass the test to become an ATP and are given finally a pilot for that elite large Airline company. You are given objectives that you have to succesfully complete for your airline. You get the idea. But if somewhere you mess up you are relegated to flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog doo out of Hong Kong. :-lol3) If there is room for improvement in the graphics engine, re-write the graphics engine to take better advantage of modern graphics cards.I mentioned these before and other stuff that I had previously mentioned was brought up by other people here in this thread already. I could come up with more but I really haven't been making a list. ;)Jim

Yeah a recent thread left me wandering what others thought about it. Unlike my wish list that I posted awhile back I was just putting a thread out on key items. To be honest there was a huge amount of items that I listed (and would email to MS every blue moon) the last go around that I never read anyone else talking about that made it into fs9. Not saying that it was because of me but it surely doesnt hurt to bring up positive ideas in thread instead of a lot of negative ones bashing things. Seems that MS is really listening more so than I think before on making a sim with high input from the community in addition to other sources as what to make FS. It was that post about will we ever get graphics this good in FS that started me thinking if by then whaat will the sim be like because I cnat think of too many more great new features only more improved ones that arent too far off of a happy medium with the excepion of how basic ATC is. Maybe photoreal everything but otherwise there isnt that many things left that will be a huge item that hasnt been done yet.

Guys, reading all the wishes I can say only one thing : go fly in real life, you'll love it ! Improvements to ATC are necessay, on AI aswell but the farmer with the cow...regards,Thomas

>Guys, reading all the wishes I can say only one thing : go fly in >real lifeI think my problem is because I do fly real life as my job that i expect alot out of the sim... Areas I feel need improvement are AI spacing, fix the overcast issue, and for heavens sake kill that stupid visual approach for AI traffic!! (My rant that I have been looking into for I don't know how long) If its 1100 overcast and 4 miles, and I am coming in IFR, ATC is not going to clear me for a visual approach when I can't even see the ground!!!) The facility is there already for this, MS just over rode it with (if celiing > 1000 or visibility > 3 or approach = ILS) override all non precision approaches... damn i wish I could get at the ATC code for 10 seconds :)Chris

I think there should be a major effort go into making FS10 as "open" as possible. There's no way that MS can put in all the bells and whistles that we want, so structure it so that addon programs can fill the void. I admit that it's relatively "open" now, but there is room for major improvement--you can't take off with a FS Nav flight plan in IFR conditions without filing a FS9 flight plan that overrides all the work you've put into creating your FS Nav flight plan, for instance. Yes, there's a lot that MS can and should do to improve the product, but structure it so that we can all add value to it at well.

I am not asking for much (yet): that the tower view move automatically to the destination airport (or to the closest airport).A junior programmer should be able to fix that in 10 minutes or less.If there already is some option to achieve that, please excuse my ignorance and enlighten me...Phil

Just reading some of the replies to this thread I would be surpise if ATC isnt being modelled to a more accurate engine. You read a here and there idea but as far as a major new improved engine for the next version like how the weather was promoted in FS9, ATC is the only thing I'm reading simmers mostly talk about, mostly. It would be nice to be able to fly IFR for once knowing ATC is doing there job. I just relly cant see anyother thing that will sell the next version if ATC doesnt get up to speed. I know there is a big amount of simmers who dont use default atc because of reasons like RC or online flying but I feel the masses still use it for easy and default ATC is always online. Who knows they might spring a voice recon engine on us where we dont have to talk to atc via keys anymore.
