March 3, 201214 yr Do yourself a favor and do the Kayaker Search and Rescue mission. Man, this sim is getting better every day. The graphics are awesome, the mood is great! I love how you constantly fly through some sort of very light morning haze: you can almost feel the morning cold. It looks so awesome! I also love the shadows in the morning. And when you fly along the coast, which is the best ever, you sometimes notice the sunlight flickering when you fly into the shadows. So real! ALso flying towards the sun makes everything darker. It is SO MUCH better then anything I have ever seen in FSX! Doing the mission itself is also big fun! (It makes the world more alive when you hear people talking.)And btw I really have to lose some bad FSX habits... I flew by some aerocaches near the coast and I thought 'Let's get them' so without thinking I flew straight at them... end before I knew it I was caught in the mountains... and suddenly I remembered I wouldn't be able to slew myself out of there... CRASH!!! Luckily you can load the latest checkpoint, hahaha! The trip back, after finding the kayaker was great too. Awesome. Seriously, I really can't imagine getting back to FSX again for GA when I am flying so smoothly through this beautiful scenery! One more thing: I once posted I don't like options. I don't like that for instance REX offers me thousands of skies and colors and reflections and what not. Of course having a choice is nice, but somehow it makes the world feel not realistic because in real life I also can't change how things look. I somehow like a really believable world that is how it is and nothing you can do about it. So I love how MS Flight gives me a world that looks great as it is and I don't have to fool around anymore with all kinds of addons...These are great days... And things will only get better.
March 3, 201214 yr isn't that a great mission! I almost got a "virtual chill" flying through some of the wispy fog...the immersion factor is great. Microsoft has definitely added little tidbits to make it more immersive/interesting. One thing I miss (and would love to see added) is to be able to see your passenger instead of an empty seat...
March 3, 201214 yr Ohh man, and I was going to load up a flight plan for my 737 in FSX this morning, as I do every Saturday morning - and I just had to read this thread and think, I gotta do that one! Don B
March 3, 201214 yr This was my favorite mission in the beta. I'm an avid kayaker, so I'm a bit partial to this sort of thing. My work study in college was as kayak instructor and waterfront supervisor, where I was also trained in first aid and rescues (which I had a zodiac for, not an Icon), ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
March 3, 201214 yr Yeh it's great. Water rescues of all forms was something of a speciality in my last job too, so it's special for me also.Flight is just loaded with possibilities. Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
March 3, 201214 yr Hmm, I guess I have to complete some more missions before I get to that one?I do not see it available anywhere yet? Don B
March 3, 201214 yr that mission was great, i loved it. I'm actually enjoying all the missions especially the 2-4 hour photo shoot where i ran out of fuel near the end :Cry:Ah, good to know. I guess that problem can be solved by landing somewhere and refuelling...? Although I am not looking forward to a 2 to 4 hour flight. I will probably use the skip function a lot for that mission, if I ever start it.
March 3, 201214 yr Hmmm . . . I did the Kayaker mission with clear skies. I thought it was just a simple, beginner mission or something. Now that I think about it, I was in a MP session where the host had clear weather. So, I guess I cheated on that one ;). I'll need to do it again as it was designed - sounds really nice.

It's a shame the fair weather clouds look so crappy but as long as we can fly during dusk and dawn with the kind of weather as in this mission, I don't really care...!
March 3, 201214 yr i just did this mission again, the last time was in the beta. A nice change was that the icon had a nice little coastguards paintscheme to it which I did not have in the beta that was given to me for doing the mission. Those aerocaches along the way are like bits of candy just begging to be picked up, luckily I was not seduced as I just know i would have ended up crashing but I shall go pick them up another time.Craig
