March 3, 201214 yr Greetings all. After a several hiatus, my interest in Flight Siming is renewed. I put together a new PC, and installed FSX Gold along with ReX2, several areas from MegaSceneryEarth, AirbusX, and PMDG's 747-400.So far, I am happy except for the relative sparsity of ground objects, despite running with all sliders at Ultimate.I am reading good things about UTX, GeX, and scenery from Orbx. The question: will I see improvements from all these offerings, or is there a point when the add-ons start "stepping on one another?"Thanks in advance for any suggestions!Bob Always remember to Find Your FUN! -Bob
March 3, 201214 yr UTX, GEX, and a good mesh such as fsgenesis play very well with each other. ORBX likes to play by itself. Matt Wilson
March 3, 201214 yr I forgot to ask what areas u plan to fly? And if your into airliners the PMDG NGX is a must buy. Matt Wilson

March 3, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the replies. Very helpful!I enjoy both GA aircraft as well as the larger jets. Mainly like to fly the majority of the US Eastern seaboard. Always remember to Find Your FUN! -Bob
March 3, 201214 yr Hi All,I have posted some before, during, and after snaps of my recent (January 2012) re-installation of FSX after upgrading to a SSD. I named them similarly so comparisons can easily be made, and the SkyDrive viewer allows easy cruising through the pictures.I uploaded 3 scenarios: The first is the desert around Albuquerque viewing South-East from KAET Double Eagle II Airport outside Albuquerque, NM where I reside. My intent was to see the difference in the desert landscape as I was upset at the default depiction. The fourth photo in this case is very close to the real thing, IMHO.The second set is LA looking at the city with KLAX in the foreground. The third set is near KMIA looking South.Shot 1 is defaultShot 2 is UTX onlyShot 3 is UTX + GEXSHot 4 is UTX + GEX + REX2https://skydrive.liv...ANWZz-JUEhMN4TQMy fsx.cfg was tweaked by using Bojote's config tool but that's all the changes I made to the default installation. My system specs are in my signature line.I also took snaps of Albuquerque, the sea looking west of LA, and Washington state somewhere near KSEA and all showed dramatic improvement of the landscape, especially landclass and foliage placement. I would have uploaded them too but I think these show the differences well enough. You be the judge whether these add-on upgrades are worth the money. I hope this was helpful. Your images answered all my questions :) I'll be running FSX + FSGenesis + REX2 + GEX + UTX, as well as Ultimate Traffic 2 for fun. I'll report back after all these downloads are finished and installed ! Edited March 3, 201214 yr by Wizard-Bob Always remember to Find Your FUN! -Bob
March 3, 201214 yr Wizard-Bob,You might also consider downloading the Water Configurator as well, it does some tweaks to the water that will eliminate the somewhat overdone reflections that you can see in that Miami set of pictures. It is available here for free:http://www.strikingsoftware.com/downloads.shtmlHappy flying!
