March 8, 201214 yr I've spent quite a while googling this, with no luck. Is there any way to set the heading at which the plane crosses a waypoint in the FMC?Thanks in advance.Ethan E.
March 8, 201214 yr No. Some SIDS and STARS have vectors, but you cannot create those as a user. Matt Cee
March 8, 201214 yr Author I read on another forum that it is possible to enter the name of the waypoint and enter it in LSK 1-5L, then before pressing execute, enter the desired heading into LSK 6R. This worked for me once yesterday, but I am not able to recreate the situation.Ethan E.
March 8, 201214 yr Commercial Member Maybe you could create a waypoint on the FIX page?Like if you wanted to cross XXX VOR at a heading of 090, you could create a waypoint on the FIX page on the 270 radial 10 miles from XXX and insert it before XXX.Would that get the effect you're looking for? March 8, 201214 yr Author On the LEGS page, on top of each waypoint, there is the heading that the plane will cross it at in smaller text. What I want to do, and what I was able to do once, is to change the heading in this section. For some reason, I can't do it again.Ethan E.
March 8, 201214 yr Could you draw what you need the plane to fly? I have no idea what we are pursuing, really. --Peter Fabian
March 8, 201214 yr Author Could you draw what you need the plane to fly? I have no idea what we are pursuing, really.I am trying to fly the JULLE 5 STAR and the Runway 08 ILS in Honolulu. I will attach the links below. Between ALANA, the end of the STAR, and SELIC, the beginning of the ILS chart, the plane gets to SELIC at a heading of about 316 degrees, then begins to circle. This way, the plane overshoots the runway laterally, and then aligns. I want the turn to start before the plane reaches SELIC. I want the plane to intersect SELIC while pointing at runway heading, 080 degrees. Is this possible?http://155.178.201.160/d-tpp/1202/00754JULLE.PDFhttp://155.178.201.160/d-tpp/1202/00754I8L.PDFThanks.Ethan E.
March 8, 201214 yr Commercial Member so...why not go direct to SELIC from ALANA?Or if you want to make it an easier turn go to the FIX page, make a waypoint about 8miles from SELIC at about 230 degrees. Are you saying the plane is going direct to HNL after ALANA? That's a lost comms procedure. It sounds like you're making this a lot more complicated than it needs to be.Or maybe the biggest question of all...why are you trying to make the FMC do this for you? Just switch it to HDG SEL mode and vector yourself. Noah Bryant
March 8, 201214 yr Commercial Member The closest thing to what you're asking is the INTC CRS prompt at LSK 6R on the LEGS page after doing a direct to (line selecting the waypoint into the first position on page 1 of the LEGS page). What this does though is tell the FMC the course you want to fly to the waypoint - it's not going to make it turn early or anything like though. There's specific rules in the LNAV controller algorithms for how early it can start a turn on a "fly by" waypoint - the real thing will overshoot turns too in many cases. One thing you could try is prior to reaching ALANA, do a direct to to SELIC and enter a 079 INTC CRS - this will make a line to infinity off SELIC on the correct heading - arm LNAV and the plane should intercept that course line to SELIC.Noah is correct though really - you would never still be in LNAV at this point in real life, you'd be in HDG SEL and LVL CHG or V/S receiving instructions from ATC. March 8, 201214 yr If you wanted to just make your own "vectors," you could make a waypoint for something like ALANA260/15 and then go direct SELIC. Not very RW, however. Matt Cee
