March 10, 201214 yr As per the subject. You can see that I have a rather mid to old rig which has some memory issues with the NGX (in combination with other add-ons like ASE, EFB etc). Will I be able to do at least some flying or will I get OOMs all the time?I plan to upgrade (either Sandy or Ivy Bridge) quite soon. Still waiting for 'THE WIFE' to approve the relevant item in the annual bill :( George Golas ---------------------- I hate gravity!
March 10, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi George,I don't want to guarantee anything... your system is pretty old. FS2Crew does not add much overhead to the sim as it's not a heavy graphic intensive program, but you're already running very close to the line, especially if you're already getting OOM issues. You can buy it now if you like, and if it works, great, if not, no worries. You're getting a modern machine shortly anyway.Just be sure to get Win 7 64 bits with your new machine.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
March 16, 201214 yr Hello Georges,I have almost the same config that you.-Before FSX session I reboot the stuff.-I use GameBooster3 to minimize the tasks (18 tasks instead of +-35).-I turn off the antivirus (Microsoft Security Essentials), of course my FSX.cfg is optimized and last but not least I reduced the size of external textures liveries at 1024 with DXTBmp and GIMP programs. The important thing to know is : do not exceed +-1.7G memory. I control it in the task manager.I run FSX + NGX + GSX + FS2Crew (excellent program BTW ;-)) + some Aerosoft airports, ORBX sceneries and so...I have very, very rarely OOM'sHope this helpRegards,Richard PortierPS : In principle there is no need to slaughter a chicken a night of full moon. :( Richard Portier MAXIMUS VI FORMULA|Intel® Core i7-4770K [email protected] x8|NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080ti|M16GB DDR3|Windows10 Pro 64|P3Dv5|AFS2|TrackIr5|Saitek ProFlight Yoke + Quadrant + Rudder Pedal|Thrustmaster Warthog A10|
March 16, 201214 yr The memory is key on an older system. Im running a Q9650 with a GTX 260 BUT with 8 megs of ram in Windows 7 64. FSX really needs at least 4 megs min to avoid OOM errors, and you need 64 bit to take advantage of the larger memory. I had OOM issues to when I was on Vista 64 with 4 megs, then upgraded to 8 and NOT A SINGLE ONE SINCE. Then I upgraded to Win 7 and FSX has never run better even on my old system. I can get 15+ fps in VC in NGX at Orbx Seattle...with night lighting! LOL Preston Van Name PMDG 747-400 PMDG MD-11 PMDG JS41 PMDG 737-NGX FS2Crew Voice Edition for each, except MD-11
