  1. To be fair, that statement isn't 100% true. There have been a few very impressive releases in the meanwhile, but it's also true that the NGX still feels like brand new!
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but how the trim can be in the wrong position? I mean it's supposed to be set in the correct position by the AP and once you disengage 'him' it stays there. How can the hardware affect this if you don't move it? I find it more probable that the yoke or joystick was somehow set in the wrong position and commanded the steep dive.

The default key assignments set in FSX are: Doors - select (open/close): Shift + E Select item 1: 1 Select item 2: 2 Select item 3: 3 Select item 4: 4 I had somehow deleted the last four assignments and could only open door 1 only, but after I put these back it works fine. Have a try and good luck.
  4. That is a very old post of mine Mike! He he he... I've actually purchased EFB shortly after and have been flying with it since then. One of the best purchases for FSX ever!
  5. A control panel with Empty/Random/Full buttons, a way to open all the doors (how do the people in MJS managed to open theirs?) and definitely a panel save/load option. The NGX has set some standards that must be taken for granted from all the serious developers. No step backwards please! Apart from these rather small to mid annoying things the plane is excellent! Time to learn how to fly it properly!
  6. The recommendation you read probably refered to the installation path of FSX. It is said that it's better to avoid installing FSX in the default path due to problems with the Windows protection features that may intefere with FSX or other addons. What you can do is to intall FSX in a root directory (eg. C:/FSX). Even better to install it on a separate drive and the best option is to install it on a separate physical drive. I personally use a SSD for FSX solely...

Although it seems to be a pretty straight forward thing to do, I simply cannot make the shortcut keys work within FSX... ctrl+] is my choice, a combination not used by FSX or any other simultaneously running application, but OPS refuses to open the weather report menu which I then access through the menu. Any suggestions/ideas please?
  10. I guess that what you describe is pretty much the right thing to do. At least it look logical. Just note that NGX is CAT D so it's the 290 radial that you should follow...

  12. Nathan please note that FSX is based on CPU power rather than graphics, so chaning your card won't do much. A faster CPU will give you much better value (fps) for money.
  13. Keep in mind that it's not good practice to have the A/T on while hand flying. For a full autoland APP alone is not enough. You must also engage both APs! In general if you keep the AP off and follow the FD you can hand fly any phase of the flight you want, as long as the FMC is setup properly. Well in theory at least, as it needs some practice!   15. Excellent weather, camera, historic data. If you also make the briefing reports for flight plan wind averages, temps etc then we're done! Competition is dead!!!
  16. You can simply copy the FSX folder in the new drive and change the drive letter assignment in order to mimic the old FSX path. That'll save you the hush to reinstall everything. I migrated FSX in minutes and never had a problem with registries etc...

I personally hand fly up to a few thousand feet above ground, then either switch to HDG SEL and the LNAV and VNAV or straight to LNAV-VNAV depending on my mood or if I want to follow the default (and silly) ATC commands... However as an additional aid I have HDG SEL and VNAV armed before takeoff in order to follow the FD and climb properly while following the correct track.

  19. Glenn the unregistered version of FSUIPC is free and doesn't do anything to your FSX performance wise.
  20. Thanks Stephen, count me in. As for the textures guys, why do you get so confused? Weather and quality of textures are two entirely different things! Weather softwares (AS, REX, Opus) have nothing to do with textures. They simply "tell" the FS the baro pressure, how many clouds and what kind of clouds to use and how the winds blow at various locations and altitudes. It's the FS that depicts those clouds according to the textures that it finds in the textures folder. Therefore whatever textures are in there, these will be shown in your screen. If you have the default ones your clouds will look less good that the ones that come from an HD package, however the weather experienced will be identical as it is provided by the same weather engine.
  21. Reading what others say I think tonight (after work) I'll buy your product Stephen. Hope I won't use the money back option and find the definitive answer to the FS weather problems after all the money spent on other addons! What I'd like to know from you is whether the new features you're planning will come as updates or will be at additional cost. Thanks.
  22. That means almost $8/cycle and it's still restricted for one year. Getting just one cycle is ok for me, but at $10...? Ain't this pricey?
  23. Don't know about the coverage, but the AS price seems too high to me... Circa $10 for a sinlge cycle purchase? $32 for a year? Are we serious? I'd appreciate it more if I had the option to buy (prepay) for any amount of cycles I want, but use them for any cycle I want and not necessarily consecutive ones. For example I'd like to be able to buy 7 cycles, but download a new one every 3 months... In this way I am covered for a longer period and my data is not very outdated,and AS get their money in advance. With their method combined with their price I'm afraid that I'll have to pass...
  24. You have 25kts cross wind coming almost directly from your right, so the 7 degrees is not a surprise. As Ron said, the TRACK on the ND shows your path on the ground, but the plane is "looking" (aka heading) to its right to compensate. Actually the circle near the speed scale of the HGS shows where your plane is actually going, which is very useful during landing with high winds!
