  1. First of all I must say that I don't know if it's a coincidence or it's FS2Crew. Last night I installed the NGX version for the first time after I changed my OS and spent some time trying to adjust the mic etc. Didn't do any flight though and the PC was shut normally without any issues. Today I tried to start FSX and it entered in the main interface normally. However every time I press the Fly Now button it crashes almost instantly sometimes asking for smartassembly and others just saying about a fatal (!) error regardless of the aircraft or location I want to use... Nothing else installed but the NGX SP2 updates (after FS2Crew) like suggested in the manual... As I said I don't know if it's FS2Crew but before that I hadn't had problems with FSX, NGX, EFB, UT2 and many other addons I have. Please help as I'm not really keen on reinstalling everything from scratch... PS FYI I also installed simconnect as mentioned in another forum thread but not luck!
  2. Indeed, the boarding/deboarding sounds are -the least I can say- annoying, but they can be stopped or modified quite easily as they're simple wavs. Haven't done it, but the more I use it the more I'm tempted :Just Kidding:
  3. You can leave only the front left door active for AES in order to use it with jetways. For anything elde GSX is almost perfect. The main issues come in dense areas where vehicles may drive through your plane or buildings, but I usually don't stay out of the plane looking at the vehicles instead of doing the preflight... All in all it's definitely worth its price!
  4. The thing is that the APU cannot support engine start and both packs at the same time. Don't really know if it does with one pack though, haven't tried. I turn them both off anyway.
  5. Check the controls' sensitivities within FSX and set them to max.
  6. What about the axis sensitivities within FSX? I used to have a similar problem and realised that they were too low. I have them set at 100% with small dead zones (to avoid hardware spikes).
  7. But you're not supposed to tune your NAV radio with the beacons. They flash automatically; you can just make them silent by turning off the mic at the audio panel (or hear it if mic is on of course!)... The radio freq is irrelevant, isn't it?
  8. The most recent is Athens, which is not part of this promo. I bought Stockholm and Oslo as I only fly Europe. If you fly US, San Fransisco is quite new and very good; actually it's the one made by FlightBeam Studios. For Zurich I'd go from the one created by FSDT. It's reported to have better frames and (I think) it also has moving jetways... I'd go for Frankfurt which geographically is in the middle and suitable for many short hops all around!
  9. ******* TIM!!! After 19 Years?!?! :Hypnotized: @ Matthew congratulations! I have two boys (5 years and 10 months) and I surely would like a daughter although 'the wife' does not want to hear about babies anymore...
  10. Cheers Andy! Hope to have a better look during the weekend!
  11. To be honest I expected the weather part to be a bit more detailed and provide at least temps and averages, which I don't think would be too hard for the developers to do since they have done a good job in modelling the weather (with this cube around the plane that they describe). It's currently more like a presentation thing to me as I didn't really had the time to 'check' REXE weather. One thing that I'll check for sure is the left-right swings of NGX that are eliminated in AS2012, but some people say are present in REXE. I know it can be fixed with FSUIPC but I'd prefer things like this to be handled by the weather engine itself. Anyway REXE is a trully respectable job, a great value for money and I'd recommend it to anyone even if it was only for its textures!
  12. Partly agree, but it's a sim and people like it cause they don't have to take like 5 different ratings to be able to fly the big ones, even if they're as complex as PMDG. Guess it's a matter of personal preference how realistic each one wants to be and as long as they pay with their own money and not mine I do not mind how they use their addons. However once you get into flight simming it's very probable that at some point you'll want to learn more... At least that's what happened with me! :Peace:
  13. REXE does not provide you with temps or average wind like AS2012 does. Its textures however are simply the best. I don't feel like putting the wind in every waypoint every time I fly so average wind is always good to have... Right now I am REXE for textures and AS2012 for weather.
  14. You must edit your fsx.cfg file. There's a setting about head movement that you must zero. I'll have a look when I get back home and I'll let you know...
  15. Been testing for some time all four approaches and the two 21s seem to have an issue. I am not really sure it's the NGX or the scenery, as both 03 approaches seem to be ok and the plane follows the glideslope as expected. However in both 21 approaches there's a point right above some low hills that are circa 3 miles from the threshold where there's a sudden increase of thrust and then the AP seems to go higher than the glideslope, then dives steeply (c. 1300 fpm) to capture it again till it disconnects... Is there any chance that there's some kind of updraft effect when the plane passes over these hills, that destabilises the approach? What troubles me is that this appears even when flying manually, like a step down the glideslope.. It's quite weird!
  16. You can use REX with a bit lower texture size than 4096. 2048 or even 1024 can work fine. In any case it'll definitely be better than default textures! As for AS2012 I have a feeling that they are less heavy for my PC. After a clean FSX installation I have opted to use AS only. Guess that I'll try REX only if I upgrade my rig.
  17. Your chart is pretty much new, so 140 is probably the correct heading. However an AIRAC error is not PMDG's issue, but Navigraph's who you should contact. You can also try to edit the respective procedures' files with the notepad. Even if you make a mistake you can always reinstall them...
  18. There are mods for this. Pointless or not it's not something that you or I will judge as from totally useless -in your opinion- things someone might learn something new, PMDG or not related. If this creates such a big issue for them or AVSIM they are free to delete whatever they want, but it's not you who will tell. In any case the number of topics shows the success of PMDG and NGX in particular and that it's the most viewed AVSIM area by far. U don't need to be that "mainstream"! :Peace:
  19. Not at all. Just saw it and couldn't resist...
  20. Sorry for this PMDG people and AVSIM admins, but I had to do this. You may delete it if you want, but NGX topic #10,000 is a fact!!! OPA!!!
  21. No you don't. Every day I use plans without numbers and they work fine. Must be something else.
  22. Thanks for the reply guys as I really don't wanna throw away money on things I don't like to use! It's on the pocket-draining list together with QW's Bae146, a few airports and -of course- the new PMDG babies...
  23. You have been told from whom? And for what reason is an SSD worse than an HDD??? Bravo Sierra in sight...
