nav data pro is out

just bought one cycle to test it out, going to see what the coverage is like up here in Canada, I only like to update a few times a year so $8 bucks a cycle is no big deal, you can also get a year subscription for $32, if your hard core, the UI is pretty neat aswell.

Saw the announcement earlier. But a question: why would I buy this instead of the AIRAC cycles? What's the advantage?

Some of the differences:

  • Much better coverage: Every IFR-Procedure that is published by state source (AIP) is included. No more "Not in Database" in most of the cases.
  • Support of RF-Legs (Radius to FIX, for PMDG interpolation similar to DME ARCS
  • Conversion of CI-IF-TF Path Terminator Combinations into CI-CF.
  • More relieable, Navtech (data provider of navigraph) has delayed some changes to the next cycles in the past. That does not happen here unless the sources arrive very late.

I don't know there is still no approaches for KASE and some of the data seems to be corrupted, at least in my ngx, I posted it iin their support forum, I hope they actually make revisions and fix corrupted data, without sayiing wait for the next cycle.

I can't believe there are grammar errors on the interface... Ridiculous. Extented?

There will be a revision for the current cycle. I have described a temporary solution that you can do by yourself in the aerosoft forum.

For all: There seems to be a problem with interpolated PI (Procedure Turn) path terminators, where waypoints have a dash in the name:

Something like PI-013, the dash has to be removed everywhere, also within the procedure so that it looks like PI013.

This is a way to get the procedures working until the fix is there.

For KASE: The approaches there are all CIRCLING approaches, which are in general not included (also for some real world FMS), because according to ARINC424 rules approaches must be linked to an runway.

The waypoints itself for the circlings should be there, so they can be used.

FIMSO, DOYPE, CEYAG

How is the coverage for Canada seem to you compared to Navigraph? I live in Windsor, Ontario.

Seems pretty good, except for the few corrupted airports II found, which will be fixed in a revision, CYQG has all the STARS and Approaches but seems to be missing the Windsor 3 departure, not a big deal though if you have your charts for the issued departure fix

Im sure alot of work has gone into this, I don't think aerosoft gets its data from Lido (i think thats it) for free. It is a service after all. :)

I can't believe you think it should be free. The data they use and the work to covert it to use in FS sure aren't.

The real databases cost a small fortune for worldwide coverage. We should be thankful we can get these databases so cheaply!

What a ridiculous statement.

Ok cool, Im not even sure the YQG3 SID would be in the FMS would it? Its just vectors for assigned fix correct?
