Huge white smoke clouds rising from (some) AI traffic

Featured Replies

Hi. I have installed a new airport (UHMA - uhma_v2.zip, from AVSIM.ru) and some AI a/c there produce great clouds of white smoke as they taxi - King Air 350s do but Cessnas don't. I have seen this effect occasionally on pushback, but never quite like this - unless you angle your viewpoint well away from the AI a/c, the screen is totally white. Screenshot below of receding aircraft (nice torbado effect!).Is this a problem with the aiport (then why only some AI a/c?), or the AI a/c (then why have I never seen it before with King Air 350s?).Thanks,Martin

Hi MArtin.I expect you've already thought of this, but it looks to me as though an effect, possibly for AI, that came with the new airport is missing a texture. (I'm assuming, in ignorance, that effects need textures...).Is the streak actually coming from the aircraft in the foreground? It looks as though someone just caught fire and piled into the far end of the apron!Do the streaks still appear when the airport is disabled? Or, if you have the patience, with the airport uninstalled?Sorry not to be any more help, but it may start a more productive train of thought in another reader.D

Hello Martin, did this phenomenon occur with your own plane, too? I experienced a similar effect at UHSS Airport, also from avsim.su, some weeks ago. My own piston engined plane (Calclassics DC-6) produced so much smoke that after a while of taxiing I couldn't see anything more.My theory was this: I load real wheather, and temperature was almost -40° C there. It seemed that this made the engines show a contrail effect already on the ground. Does anybody know if contrail effects are activated by outside temperature? One could easily test this by setting a higher outside temperature and observing what happens.

I have never, ever seen anything like that in any sim before. That does not even look like an fs9 texture of any sort. It must be a corruption from some addon, probably contrails related. What happens if you turn up the inflight temperatures?Kind regards,

I'll experiment a bit more with this and report back. The smoke follows the AI aircraft as it taxis away. My own a/c is fine (as are some other AI a/c, as I said). Like you, I have never seen anything quite like this before in 12 years of flight-simming!Martin :-)

Yes, I put tornado - but mistyped it! :-)Think it may be a contrail problem, I agree.,M
