March 10, 201214 yr This is my first post here, hope I'm in the right place. Can someone please let me know how to play the new MS Flight offline - assuming you can? When I downloaded and installed the game I could play offline OK and fly the first basic plane.I then 'signed up' to get my hands on the free yellow Bi-Plane, and from that point on I always seem to have to log in before I can play.Should I need to log in to 'live' or should I still be able top play offline?I guess I'm missing something as I thought I read somewhere that Flight can be played offline (with certain limitations) but I cant make it.I've started the game, pressed any key and up pops my user account where I can either cancel the login or login to play. From there, I've 'signed out' and created a new 'off line' account by clicking the hyperlink so now I have two accounts. The first one works as above and logs me in to play, the new supposed offline account just sends me off via a browser window to login.Am I missing something?ThanksPS - I'm new to flight sims and from what I tried I quite like Flight, but I prefer to crash offline :-)
March 10, 201214 yr From the Flight manual:Once you download Microsoft Flight, you no longer need an Internetconnection to play. Simply start the game and skip the sign-in process. If you play offline, your game progress is saved and your Pilot Profile willsynchronize the next time you sign in with your Games for Windows –LIVE profile and password. The following features are NOT available when you play offline:• Aerocache hunt• Message of the Day• Downloadable content• Text chat• Voice chat• Games for Windows – LIVE functionality• Multiplayer mode• Marketplace• Profile updates Don B

At least I think this is how it should work... Don B
March 10, 201214 yr The only way that I have found to play offline is to disable my internet connection. If there is no connection it loads and plays just fine.
March 10, 201214 yr Author dburne, thanks for the reply. I saw that bit in the manual but I couldn't get it to work, just seemed to have to login or don't play.I'll have a look at the options you mentioned in your 2nd post as well later, and report back.My problem is as commented by 'edgarone', at the mo I cannot play offline. Thanks all for the quick replies and comments so far.
March 10, 201214 yr @dburne - this is not working: automatic login is not enabled, but I cannot get past or ignore the login - either I login or stay at the login screen. Logout during the game sends me back to the login screen.@Richdre - This might be a good workaround ! Thanks!
March 10, 201214 yr Ok I went into Flight, then pressed the " home" key on my keyboard to display the Live screen - there it gives you a " sign out" option. I should think you could just click sign out and continue on to play. I suspect there in the settings menu on the same screen, you can probably disable automatic sign on.Again, just be aware of what will not be available, that I copied and posted out of the manual...Well you are right - I signed out from the home screen, got a message Flight had to restart - it restarted, then took me to the login screen again - I can't seem to get around that, to get to the " play" menu...Perhaps someone with more knowledge on this will come along and offer feedback. Strange... Don B
March 11, 201214 yr Author Richdre, thanks worked for me as well. I had to attempt to login to 'live', I was told it couldn't and then the game started. Pressing <home> key told me it was not connected to 'live'. I dissed the network by disabling the NIC. I wonder if an O/G firewall would allow you to block it? (I May give that a try).dburne, thanks for the ideas, I tried them but I couldn't get them to work. This is a good forum for flight beginners, and once again thanks all for chipping in and comments.PS - I'm sure I read somewhere that MS Flight was supposed to have an Off-Line option somewhere/how, so if any one does know please add the info here.

March 16, 201214 yr From what I can tell the only way to fly offline after you have signed in once through GFWL is to disconnect the network cable, try to login and wait for the login to timeout. At that point you can carry on flying offline. Aerocache and the like will not be available but all your DLC will still work.Frankly this is a rubbishy workaround but it is better than nothing. Give people power to really test their personality.

It should be optional; besides the manual says you should be able to do that. And if you can't fly offline, isn't that raising a privacy issue ?

And if you can't fly offline, isn't that raising a privacy issue ?Yes, isn't that what I just stated that you replied to in regards to it being optional and the manual saying you should be able to do that? :wink:But then, I am on some pretty dang strong paid meds at the moment from my very recent surgery, so no telling.... Don B
March 16, 201214 yr I think you are doing fine, with or without meds !Wish you a healthy speedy recovery.
