March 11, 201214 yr Not been here for a long while, went to KORD and found this jagged texture on Lake Michigan.Have several Ground Textures & Enviroment Sceneries installed.I do not know how long this has been like this.Have others had this strange effect.
March 11, 201214 yr This can result from removing scenery that modifies default files instead of uninstalling it.Have you done that recently? If you have Ultimate Terraiin you should run the setup tool again. You might also look in ...Flight Simulator 9SceneryNAMCscenery for files with extensions other than .bgl.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
March 11, 201214 yr Author Thanks for your reply, but no sucess.I have FSGlobal 2008, Horizon Chicago (VFRUSA) they put files in scenery namc and are disabled as it states in the manual.HL/HP 924160/70 VFRUSA Chicage Disabled.Disables America in FSGlobal (not local meshes) and Chicago without succes.Went to the sea coastline in New York and this is fine, so it is inland.I think ik has something to do with the inland lake.Have other sceneries for Europe and several Mega Sceneries for America including MidAtlantic & NYMade a flight from Mil waukee and it is the same problem.Maybe of those areas which cannot be altered well with add-ons.I cannot remember any scenery which may have modified FS9 textures since I re-installed on a new PC more than a year ago
March 11, 201214 yr This has nothing to do with textures or mesh. I have FSGlobal 2008, Horizon Chicago (VFRUSA) they put files in scenery namc and are disabled as it states in the manual.HL/HP 924160/70 VFRUSA Chicage Disabled. That's your answer right there. those files are the coastlines and water polys for the southern part of Lake Michigan (and surrounding areas). If disableing Horizon Chicago did not re-activate the default files I would expect to see what you have in your screenshot.I do not have that product but suspect you might have disabled it in the Scenery Library as opposed to doing an uninstall. If you need the default files a fine chap named Jim Robinson has given us a great resource- Jim's Flightsim Pages - Restoring Files From the Installation Disksregards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
March 11, 201214 yr Author I only disabled in the FS Scenery Library as I did not want to un-install.Can I make a copy of the altered files (extention changed fron bgl to the extention VFRUSA Chicage Disabled) and change back to bgl.Put these back in the NAMC along with the disabled file or will I get more of a conflict.I just want the coastline to be normal along with my Chicago add-on.Horizon does not exist anymore, as I wrote, the manual stated that these files will be placed int NAMC.Once again thanks for your advice.
March 12, 201214 yr I would first make a copy of ...NAMCscenery, just to be safe. Then, in the working copy rename those files changing the extension to .bgl and test.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
March 12, 201214 yr Author Thanks Joe,That worked, the default is back, but what I do not understand why Horizon disabled these files instead of making a replacement of some sorts.Or has another of my add-ons resulted in this not showing up. Who knows.Horizon does not exist any-more, the name has been taken over by PlayHorizon and does not support the older Horizon products.Had issues with Horizon sceneries before which could not be sorted out.Like my other sceneries Chicago & Lake Michigan will have to be a compromise.
March 12, 201214 yr Author Tested again with the default bgl's and I have both the coastline & downtown Horizon Chicago. Also found 4 water files on Avsim which inproved the lake, no more rectangled with another shade of blue.Have mesh problems in other parts of Chicago outside the add-on scenery, (deep water trenches) which I presume is caused by my FS Global 2008 as this is default.Thats my next challenge.
March 12, 201214 yr In FS9 there is a problem in that water bodies typically (always for default water) flatten the mesh. You can update the coastlines, or overlay them with photo-terrain, but that won't remove the flattening. The only way to do that is to disable the default water files (HP9* files).scott s..
