VOR Frequencies

Featured Replies

As a newbie to AVSIM, FLIGHT, and the forums, I'd like to thank everyone for their replies and help. I have used FS since the beginning, and compared to FSX, of course, FLIGHT is much different. As I've said, some things I like a lot, some things not so much. Anyway, my question this time is this:Where do you find the frequencies of the VOR's? I would like to fly in free flight using them. When you click on the airport, it shows the "Job Board" tab, and the comm frequencies (like you'll hear anything on those). I can't find NAVAID ones though. Do you need to like have sectionals, or something? Thanks.

Just wave the mouse over the aid - don't click. Sometimes you need to move it a touch to get off an airport if they're co-located - but only a little bit! A box comes up with the name, frequency, and morse code identifier that you should get if you activate the nav ID (labelled 'Pull Ident' on the radio).Mike

Unfortunately the free aircrafts do not have VOR instrument onboard. You can still can view them on the map by check the NAVAIDS box in the legend tab.

As Mickel mentioned you can get the Navaid frequencies from the map. There's one small catch though, you have to switch on the option to display them on the map first. I forget where it is exactly, but if you look though the menus there will be an option called 'legend' or something like that. If you click on that you will get a check box with the option to display the navaids on the map. Check the box and they will appear, then hover your mouse over the icon on the map to get the frequency (and hear the identifier) as Mickel mentioned.

Let me summarize it all a bit for socalguy85... :wink:1. In addition to sibtiger and japascoe: on the map, click on Free flight > Legend and enable the navigation stuff on the Legend window that will popup by ticking the box. From then on all navigation information (VOR, ILS, DME, etc.) will always show up on the map, so no need to repeat that step. (You can close the Legend window with the X at the top right or simpy select something else form the menu on the left.)2. After that, do what Mickel said. Hover the mouse over an VOR icon or an ILS or whatever to see the frequencies!

I really like that a noob starts fiddling with serious matters and not simply collecting coins like kids. You will be an expert pilot soon, this forum is plenty also of people who have a great aviation knowledge so keeping on learning will be satisfactory like flying, trust me. ( above all when serious jets are in place like PMDG 737 NGX )

Thanks guys... I have this bad habit of turning all those things on on day one and forgetting that I did it, so do what I did here and assume they're always there!

You do the Sid Star for a well paid job and no one is being paid for collecting coins..... that's because such a activity requires skills and the brain has to be on the edge to perform that stuff.Told that, I can understand that a easy approach to Flight can relax and can be funny as well but you have a good job indeed and many would like to be bored that way and being paid for that too

i see what you are saying, and i didn't mean boring really, but i sure don't feel like doing it in Flight after work. :)
