  1. One major problem with the moving map is that you can't even zoom on it.
  2. Jim Skorna? He is hanging around at the flightsim.com forums.
  3. Hey, how come they don't use that water texture for inland bodies of water?
  4. But the model shown in the screenshot clearly is a mosque with a pair of minarets.
  5. I flew there just to compare it with FSX since there was a mission in FSX that asks you to land in Sitka.Well, just like you, I was totally disappointed by the sand dunes, they look exactly like their counterpart in FSX, with no improvements.
  6. This seems to be a aircraft effect related bug. If you use the Cub, the Stearman or the Icon, ice/snow flakes get kicked up. The RV-6, the Maule and the Warbirds have this bug. They need an update for the these aircrafts I think.
  7. Just noticed another problem: the town and village in western and northern Alaska uses the same suburb landclass from the lower 48th states! And Unalakleet runway has tall trees on both side, but in real life the whole airport is completely flat.
  8. I didn't expect much for the majority of Alaskan wildness area. Just as you said, it is wildness and patch of nothing but tundra, trees, and rock. But I did find some of the population hotspots not as well done. I mean, Anchorage and Fairbanks airports looks generic, lacking the quality of Honolulu or Hilo.
  9. This is what I'm afraid of most. Perhaps the team is trying to see what the market prefers, small and detailed like Hawaii or larger but more generic like Alaska? Not only is the Cub "basic", the whole package feels "basic" compared to the Hawaii Pack.
  10. Much of Alaska feels more like the "default" scenery of FS11 in comparison to Hawaii. I'm really hopping for an upgrade pack for Alaska. Right now it is kind of half-priced, half-baked. I would have gladly paid more to get more details and content.
  11. Are there any other detailed airport with aerial photo ground other than Kodiak. So far I only count one that is on par with airports in Hawaii. It seems as if the team initially intended only to model an area similar to Hawaii with greater details.
  12. Nice shot! One thing though, I don't know if anyone has brought this up before. But in overcast weather as in picture #3, when inside the cockpit, the sun shines through the cloud and produces a glare on the windshield. But if you switch to outside view, no sunbeam penetrates through the cloud.
  13. I agree, the map might be fine for Hawaii but is totally useless for Alaska or any larger area.
  14. I wish the map had higher resolution with more details and labels.
  15. So far I've only found Kodiak having a photoreal ground treatment and details like those Hawaiian airports. ;-( Even Anchorage and Fairbanks have generic polygon layout. It feels like Kodiak was done around Hawaii time, hence the Easter Egg from the video.
  16. The one disappointing thing I've noticed is that the major airports eg Fairbanks, Anchorage, do not have photoreal ground texture like Honolulu or Hilo nor are they as detailed. But Kodiak does. LOL. Looks like the Easter Egg was done around Hawaii time before the entire Alaska.
  17. Still says coming soon when I clicked on Alaska from within Flight!
  18. hmm, Temperate Climate Wilderness LC is not up, for the next DLC? I guess the upgrade to a deluxe carbon cub (if there is) will probably be around $5-7 so the final cost will be about same as Hawaii.
  19. It is not mentioned that Alaska requires the additional packages.
  20. Where? Under GFWL? That is independent of this LC pack. They must have been put up for Alaska. I see a couple of new ones. One that caught my eyes is: Liquid Airstrip: Perform a water assisted landing in a non-amphibious aircraft. Just like they do in Flying Wild Alaska where Jim is landing on those sandy river banks using water for slowing down.
  21. Those are just texture files and the associated autogen annotations. Not used in Hawaii.
