March 25, 201214 yr The one I'm using (180HP) easily cruises at around ~110IAS at 2400 RPM ~65% power at 4500 ft. Not flat out by any means. We don't have the wheel fairings installed either.Gotcha. Regg may have had a lower horsepower version (we didn't discuss it) or may have simply been a bit heavy with three people on board. He did have the wheel fairings, and I was surprised to see winglets. And an angle of attack meter. Very different from the last time I was up.Of course, if you put floats on that puppy... :DHook Larry Hookins Oh! March 25, 201214 yr Hmm, never had 3 people on board. I think that will slow things down a bit, I know it's a world of difference between 1 and 2 people on board.The Icon has grown on me a bit. The scope of its mission is much smaller than that of the Skyhawk.If you put floats on a Skyhawk (can they?) I have a feeling the Icon would be faster.
March 25, 201214 yr If you've got one and you're running it flat out all the time, I'd hate to have your repair bills. Well, that wasn't the point though. Give up.

He wasn't carrying much fuel though.The Icon is something I can imagine owning and flying myself. The 172, not so much.Well, that wasn't the point though. Give up.Have you been reading the discussion?Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
