March 13, 201214 yr I kind of like the Icon, but only for certain things - would not want to spend a majority of my flight time in it, much prefer the RV6 or even the Stearman. It is fun to knock around in, and play on the water - want to do some boating, the Icon handles it nicely... I certainly enjoyed it in the Kayake rescue mission. Don B
March 13, 201214 yr I like the icon too, its different and different is always good.Besides right now its the only craft that will keep you alive if you decide to fly for america....well that is until you starve to death on the ocean or get hit by 7m waves :)RV I flew last night and enjoyed it as well. I don't like the mustang with no cockpit but I fly it quite a bit for the speed when I am just flying out to new locations I want to see.
March 13, 201214 yr Trev i like the icon but for some reason old school designs gets my interest more . As of today im looking at the icon as my posible next airplane .but since im not a bachelor anymore im also looking at used 4 seaters cirrus sr 22 c172 and also the cessna corvalis ttx. March 13, 201214 yr If I had the necessary dow to buy me an Icon, I´d surely would, with the optional attidude indicator and night lighting included. As for Flight, I like the Icon, as it gets me to varous caches the RV6 and the Maule never would. I haven't seen that yet... very nice. I am betting rather pricey tho...I couldn't find any pricing info for it on Cessna's site. Does it qualify as a sport plane or more? You have garnered my interest! :)EDIT.. Actually now that I see a good look at the cockpit, I am guessing a sport license wouldn't suffice... there are settings for over 14k... Randy

Sport plane?! pfft! Fat chance. This is a normal category 230kt aircraft! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

March 13, 201214 yr lol, yea I kept digging and found out... that will have to be anohter dream aircraft added to the list.. :/It's a sweet ride, that's for sure. I've got time in the Columbia 400 (same aircraft) and that thing is slick. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 13, 201214 yr Well the corvalis idea was from my wife but the icon its what I really have in mind for fun. Image removed as image is no longer available.
March 13, 201214 yr I think the Icon is a bit too slow for me, I could hardly take off from short strips without running off the runway and if I was able to get off the runway I'd soon come stalling down or hit tall trees on the path.Thats my experience of it anyway, but other than that it's pretty good airplane, although I found it almost impossible to fly straight in crosswinds as it's so light.
March 13, 201214 yr I did not really like the Icon either until I saw this !http://www.iconaircraft.com/video-icon-kirk-flight-first-person.htmlFred. Frederic Steiner.
March 13, 201214 yr Author a small personal aircraft, with folding wings,Gosh! That could be interesting. Which button do you press for that?
March 13, 201214 yr Author the Stearman - talk about a flying work of art! Sound, looks, charisma - love it!Yes, agree, a beautiful aircraft beautifully rendered in Flight.I have one prevailing thought when in it- 'DEATHTRAP'One thing I do like about the Icon. If you forget to put the gear down, sure it makes sparks when you land, but then If you lower the wheels you can just get out an walk away. All planes should have this feature.
March 13, 201214 yr I did not really like the Icon either until I saw this !http://www.iconaircr...rst-person.htmlFred.And THAT is what the Icon is for. :) Flying down the valleys on Hawaii & Kauai and laughing out loud while doing it. And the Icon is the perfect ride for stalking the wild Aerocache. Tom Constantine The Old Hangar http://mainescenery.proboards.com
March 13, 201214 yr To each his own, but I love the Icon. And the Glass Goose, and the Super Pétrel, and the Seawind :o and the Arnet Pereyra Aventura, and the Sea Ray, and... well, you get the point. Great airplanes, especially if you need to land on water.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
