Flight fails to start - occasionally
I just checked my xlive.log and it is essentially the same as the one above. Last lines: Initializing SQL Connecting to SQL DB Error: Failed to connect to SQL DB: Unknown MySQL server host 'flive.db.10499026.hostedresource.com' (0) Error: Failed to initialize Live...

Non-GFWL My current version of GFWL is 3.5.0067.0/3.5.0095.0

Flight fails to start - occasionally
OK, I did that and got the same error. ----Quote---- Maybe someone could try the following - Close the dialog. Close Flight. Stop your GFWL service, (Task Manager - Services - wlidsvc - Right-click - Stop). Do not restart wlidsvc. (If Flight needs it, launching Flight should restart it for you.) Reinstate any disabled / deleted dlls. Start Flight. Does the error occur now ?

Can't Log In
Thanks so much for creating the non-GFWL version. I created a 2nd profile and started from scratch also. I have collected 22 aerocaches but my experience points and flying hours have been reset to zero when I went back to that profile. My original GFWL profile I backed up and all the numbers have been preserved properly. I have the CORE - UI - Upgrade installed, but my level remains at 20 despite having 1670617 experience points (Level 26)

My 350th Aerocache
I didn't get Curvature of the Earth so I guess I have them all. Time for some leisure flights

My 350th Aerocache
I just got 350 today. Is that the official total?

And just why are you so happy?
Well said, Luis. Flight is the version of FS that we have always wanted. I'm not a pilot but I have a few hours in the right (or front) seat of several small aircraft. I've gently pushed a stick against the air pressure and felt the seat move under me and Flight is as close as I have ever come to that on a computer. I keep trying to abandon it but I can't. Incomplete as it is, it is still the very best flight simulator ever. I have a good computer, I do not need to tweak FSX, I have lots of beautiful Orbx scenery and wonderful aircraft. It all works well together and it can be challenging and fun. BUT the feeling, the thrill and yes, the joy of flying is in Flight. Honestly, I can be happy and content in my deluxe Cub flying up and down valleys on Kauai or landing on riverbanks in Alaska and at age 70, I really don't care if in a few years someone decides to make a new flight-sim. I probably won't be here. Now is when I am concerned about and now a PA-18 and an Island strip will do just fine. One other comment and I'm done: Boredom is self-inflicted. Always.

Installed MsFlight again, OMG this Sim looks Gorgeous
Steam gauges are good. In my Flight universe, glass panels are a fad that never caught on I would love to see the default FSX Cessna 172 ported.

AOTD for 6/23/13 - USAF Remote Tracking Station
I was unable to get an AOTD tracker display, but loading a free flight at Dillingham allowed me to fly to the tracking station and the AOTD displayed as soon as I was in range. It was quicker than some might have been because I knew where it was
- Yoke and pedals - your choice?

How do you play the game?
Right now I am flying around areas of Alaska that I am familiar with, either in the sim or from my real life visit. The longest flight I have made so far was from Ketchikan to Juneau in the Maule. Most of my flying has been short flights around McCarthy, Swift Creek, May Creek, Long Lake and Jake's Bar area. I became familiar with that area in FS2002 when Bill Lyons made the Globe Swift and detailed Swift Creek. I made scenery for McCarthy and the rest and spent a long time flying around that area in the Swift. Now I am flying around in the Carbon Cub with the view shifted back into the cockpit. Pure VFR of course without working instruments.

What aircraft do you want to see in Flight; Alaska?
Yes, I'll have one of those:)

Is Steam down?
One of the mysteries of the internet, I am able to sign in with no problem. I wonder if the problem could be regional?
-
Is Steam down?
I just started Flight through GFWL and again through steam and it loaded fine and signed me into Live both times.

Alaska released. What's next?
East Africa Rift Valley & Serengeti area would be fun.

Mosque in Fairbanks, AK per Flight?
Many Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches in Alaska have "onion domes" dating back to when Russia owned Alaska.

Joke! --> ALENTEJO for MS FLIGHT preview.... <-- Joke!
That would be a beautiful place to fly
-
USA DLCs - state by state release?
I'd buy that.

Is Flight Just a Stepping Stone
No matter how flawless the logic of an argument appears, if it is based on a false premise, the conclusion will be wrong. Most if not all of the "I hate Flight and I am not happy that some people like it crowd" start their irrational hate spew from an untenable position that they nevertheless cling to kicking and screaming when they could be enjoying FSX or one of the also-rans. I have no intention of debating those who don't like Flight. My time is worth way more than that. Believe what you will, I don't care.

Is Flight Just a Stepping Stone
"Is Flight Just a Stepping Stone?" No. Flight is the future of flight simming. We are in on the beginning of the process. It is easy to sit back and say that "if this" or "if that" Flight would be better, but in time those of us who stay with it will see that Microsoft had a good workable plan and stuck to it. Flight is Flight and will NEVER be FS11. Those who are waiting for FS11, get used to disappointment. Those who see the value of superior graphics, superior flight models, superior atmosphere and a superior flight experience, just keep enjoying Flight. Don't worry about what is coming next, just pick & choose what you want when it comes along. Memories are very short, but when FSX was released, there were no 3rd party add-ons. It took time to make them and get them to market and there were lots of problems with 3 versions of the sim and the SDK kicking around. The forums were full of people complaining about how few new aircraft there were so nothing has changed. Those of you who don't like what Flight is... go find something else. Come on back in a couple of years when you finally see what you are missing.

RSS Poll
RSS sends headers to a "feed reader".(a news aggregation system) This link is to one such feed reader (the one I use) and will give you a clearer explanation than I can at the moment. http://www.feedreader.com/ Basically it enables you to see what is new on a bunch of websites without actually browsing to all of them. You can pick & choose the articles to read. I have Avsim in my feed but seldom actually use it since Avsim is in the first 3 places I visit every day.

Favorite Base of Operations?
I like Port Allen on Kauai for a home base. I enjoy Kauai most of all the islands.
