  1. Nice! Glad to hear it's working well for you. Spend 50 bucks on water cooling and crank the processor GHZ up and you'll love it even more. I'm running 4.3GHz without any problems and that's really what FSX thrives on. Have to check out Tradewinds.
  2. Nope. I messed with it for a long time (and it was a loosing battle) before finally getting FSUIPC and SPAD . If you spent the dough on the HW you pretty much have to add FSUIPC to make it worth while. SPAD of course is free. This is particularly true if you switch between aircraft types like I do. The profiles function in FSUIPC and SPAD makes life very easy.
  3. I have about the same setup except i use 3 quadrants. Make sure you use SPAD for the panels and FSUIPC. Delete/uninstall all saitek crap first though.
  4. :P He said "wrestle her with my yolk"
  5. We have been talking about that quite a few times. Get over it Hookins. Water under the bridge and all that...
  6. Amen to that! And not everything in a post is meant as an attack on anyone. It may just be an opinion, which I hope, is why we participate in a forum.
  7. Tom, you have to admit it's been somewhat skewed towards "the good" rather than "the bad". I would never critique AVSIM and it's mission and goals, but please, pretty please, admit that the handling of Flight has been a little protective rather than objective.
  8. I'm still chuckling :) Does this mean we can finally say what we think of this abortion without getting banned from avsim? No? I didn't think so....
  9. Sorry, but have to chime in again. What Flight did for me was to realize how good it could look, and consequentially I spent some dough on ORBX and other enhancements for FSX. I bought KORS (Orcas) and that just blew me socks off. Since Flight came out and after I quit it (3 months ago), I probably spent 300 bucks on FSX upgrades and I'm very pleased with the results. I wonder if P3D is worth getting into? It would be sweet if they managed to tweak the old code to use new graphics technology. Please do!!!
  10. It's really sad to hear this, but it was also really sad from the beginning; The target audience was wrong. You have to be a nerd to like this type of flying. The kids, they go for dog fights and such. The large and very solid flightsim community doesn't suffer cockpit-less aircrafts too well.
  11. Have you heard about a thing called Search (upper right corner of this window)? Works like a charm.
  12. Tried it. Now I get a black screen when starting FSX. Have to do a hard re-boot to get out of it. Be careful.
  13. Install all programs, including FSX, directly under the root of the drive, i.e. C:\FSX or whichever drive letter you are using. Then make sure you select "Run as Administrator" on the properties of each program (FSX, ACARS etc.).
  14. 2-3 minutes before landing it said something about "Injecting weather" and everything went ape...
  15. And why, in God's name does it take up to 10 minutes to interpret and parse the "weather data" prior to loading FSX? Downloading Real weather in FSX takes all but 5 seconds ( I have a VERY fast fiber internet connection). And what about that User Interface???? Text spilling over and obscuring other information. Totally unacceptable for a commercial product. My screen settings should not be an issue outside FSX...Looks like something I could have cobbled together myself. I have to say that I'm not too impressed with REX Essentials.
  16. Yes, after a 9 hour flight from KATL to EHAM in reasonable weather i was coming in for my ILS approach and the winds almost flipped the 747 over on its back. Very realistic. REXWX is not used on my rig right now :)
  17. No, as a matter of fact, MS borrowed most of the terrain from Minecraft. But forgot about the chopping part...
  18. Buttons on the ProFlight yoke works fine. Trim, flaps, brakes, and hat. You will want to adjust the config file settings for trim though since each increment is way to large. This has been addressed in this forum before. Search it.
  19. I have the lot but have not been able to make them work. Yoke, rudder, and quadrant works fine but nothing else. Maybe someone out there have tried messing with the xml. This is one reason I have sort of given up on Flight. I have too much hardware and it feels silly when nothing is working.
  20. SPAD is what you need. I can't talk about your combination, but SPAD will do it for the Saitek part.
  21. Have you tried Google or Bing??
  22. This just proves that everyone likes to talk about 'Number Two :Peace: ' more than having a working autopilot :unknw: We are nothing but human after all...
  23. Nice plug... :Monkey:
  24. Agree with CoolIP on this one. The 747 model is fine, but the visuals and controls leave a lot to be desired. I have to admit I didn't buy the upgrade to the "required" model , so I can't speak for any enhancements made since. I did a few long trips in it, but a little frustrated with controls and such, went right back to the 737 and the shorter hauls. I will buy the MD-11 very soon, and have to say it's not money holding me back, but the sheer anticipation of another great craft from the makers of the NGX. I look at their screen-shots of the 11 almost daily and don't want to be disappointed when I finally cave in.
