March 17, 201214 yr Up to now had very problems with the NGX although tonight when starting up I did not get the initialisation countdown. I then found the 2D popup panels were corrupted. This only seems to happen on some variants and some liveries. The others start fine. I have tried to remove and reinstall the liveries and also to reinstall SP1C. This didn't fix it.How do I fix this?If I need to uninstall the entire NGX how do I do it? Will I need to reenter the activation code when I reinstall? Thanks Graeme Brown
March 17, 201214 yr Probably the best thing to do is a completely clean reinstallation. Follow the correct procedures and then install SP1c, there is no need to install the earlier service packs as SP1c is cumulative. Do ensure you perform a clean reboot between each of the procedures, and also perform a short flight, this is always good practice. As for the activation code simply enter it if asked for. It may be that certain aspects relating to activation are secure in windows registries, in which case it won't be necessary. March 17, 201214 yr Author Which procedures? Do I use the add/remove progs in control panel? Graeme Brown
March 17, 201214 yr Uninstall from add/remove programs in the Windows control panel / reboot install and reboot / take 30 sec flight in NGX / close FSX and install SP1c / reboot fly NGX / close FSX and then install liveries. March 17, 201214 yr Author Just uninstalled and reinstalled the 800/900 base package and SP1C and it didn't fix the problem. The 800 WL liveries that I used previously have corrupted 2D panels and don't initialise on loading. The rest seem still to work OK.Perhaps I need to remove the 600/700 package too. Graeme Brown
March 18, 201214 yr I do not have the 600/700 but I would not have thought that you need to uninstall the 600/700 as well, as that is a separate addon completely, isn't it? Perhaps I should have asked this sooner, but when you say your 2d panels are corrupted, how does this present itself? The rest seem still to work OK.Perhaps I need to remove the 600/700 package too.A couple of weeks back I had similar problems with the panels after updating to SP1c - no-one else seemed to have had the same problems. Somehow, the graphics on the NGX had become corrupted.I suspect that you have a similar problem. The way I dealt with it was to completely uninstall the PMDG 737 NGX in it's entirety, i.e all plane variants (using the 'uninstall' option in the programmes section of Control Panel). I the rebooted the computer, and reinstalled the 8900 and 6700 packs. Finally, I updated both versions to SP1c and set up my liveries. The original registration code was not needed at all.Everything's now back to normal.Hope this helps.Toni.
March 18, 201214 yr Author I have now uninstalled both the 800 and 600 packages and then deleted all the PMDG folders from within the FSX directoriesReinstalled the 800/900 base package and a few liveries. I had the same issue, some liveries (including PMDG created versions) have corrupted 2D panels. As the problem appeared to be deeper I tried to do a system roll back. Now I have a real mess. I have two versions of all PMDG folders and I am not able to select any PMDG NGX aircraft from within FSX. And now when I try to uninstall any of the packs I get an error.I have raised a ticket, hopefully they can help me out. Graeme Brown
March 18, 201214 yr Sheesh, that's a real bummer Graeme. Sorry we've been unable to help. There's obviously something else amiss that goes beyond the usual repair procedures. No doubt Robert and the gang will get you up and rolling. Cheers... March 18, 201214 yr Commercial Member Graeme,At this point I'd probably consider reformating - seems like things are really screwed up somewhere. I have no idea how a livery could cause what you're seeing - all liveries are exactly the same in terms of how the NGX treats them, makes no sense to me. March 18, 201214 yr Author I think I have resolved my issue. After trying uninstalling and reinstalling the NGX completely with no success I thought again about the circumstances of when the issue started to happen. I realised that it happened when I tried to fly online and it only affected the liveries that I tried to use during that session. I remembered that I had changed the ATC tail number on each of them. However once I had the issue I went back to free flight to try to resolve it, where the ATC tail number is not an option. When I looked in the aircraft folder I noticed an ini file which has the tail number as part of the file name. This file appears to setup all the displays. I went back into multiplayer and changed the tail numbers back to the defaults and now the panels initialise properly again. It looks like PMDG aren't aware of this issue. So in summary to avoid this issue: Don't change the default ATC tail number when flying online as it will corrupt that aircraft even in free flight. Thanks for the suggestions on this issue.
