VirtualCol Jetstream 31 for FS2004

Featured Replies

HiI have just found a new payware release for FS9 on SimMarket - a Jetstream 31 by Virtual Col. I just wondered if anyone has taken the plunge and bought this aircraft? It is unusual nowadays for a new payware aircraft to be produced for FS9 and, as such, I strongly feel that it should get our support, but, it is not cheap and I would like to know how it performs. I have two other Virtual Col aircraft, the Cessna 303 which is OK but certainly not outstanding (see the recent thread - http://forum.avsim.n...overlooked-gem/) and the Fokker 50 which I did not like at first but which definitely improved with an updated version.Any feedback would be appreciated.BillWindows XP Pro SP2; Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz CPU;Arctic Cool 7Pro; ASUS P5N-E-SLI Motherboard;4GB Corsair 800Mhz DDR2 RAM; 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTX Dual VGA Graphics card;2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive; 650W (2 x 12V) PSU; 2 x 1000GB + 1 x 150GB Western Digital External Hard Drive;CH Pro Yoke and PedalsAll helping to power 365GB of fs9! (and much as though I hate to admit it - 178GB of FSX!)

Hmmm, looks like default GPS, default radio stack, links to their website and forum on Simmarket don't work... I will pass, while I want to support FS9 developers I do not want to do it for the sake of it I want to do it because the product warrants it...-P

Yes, they were my thoughts too from looking at the cockpit screenshots. I hadn't checked on their links in SimMarket until I read your post, but another link I had for them has come up with a message that the website has been suspended. All in all not very auspicious! I think I too will hold off on this one - what a pity.Bill

Not to mention when you buy it all you get is a shell, then you have to email or go to the website to get your gauges but yet none of them are available? Not for me...

I enter frequently to the site, however, today the page is down. I e-mailed JJ (the developer) notifying him about the situation. I'd also like to know about the plane; I have the Fokker, which I find it OK (not perfect, IAS climb/descent mode does not work well and the annoying false shadows... but I can live with that and have fun).Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

Well, JJ already replied me, the page is working again. There is some kind of manual available at Virtualcol. And now that a boxed Limited Edition is announced...Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

Got the FSX version, and that's actually quite a comprehensive simulation as far as replicating systems goes; anti-icing, hydraulics, electrics and pressurisation all work very convincingly. I assume the FS9 version is broadly similar.I stuck the Reality XP 530 in it, to replace the default GPS, and was considering replacing some gauges too, but they are not too bad, so I kept what is in there. The VC is a bit spartan, but I can live with it. Externally it is very nice, with a good mix of paint jobs that are nicely done.It flies well and handles nicely too. I think it is worth the money in spite of the slightly less than stellar looks of the VC. As others have noted, you buy it, download and install, but then have to register on the dev's website (you'll get an email) and download a little security file, which unlocks the gauges. It took a bit of finding to locate where on the site that file actually could be dowloaded from, but it is there if you look. Overall I actually like this add-on a lot and I am glad I bought it.Al

Well, I've just bought it, but I haven't had time for flying it. The 2D panel is sweet, specially for widescreen users. However, I'm not into the VC, I feel it has a hard impact on FPS (12-15 FPS in a i5?). Maybe I did something wrong, I'll reinstall today.
