Cabin altitude

Featured Replies

Hello folks, lookong back on my video from the cockpit reminded me that the pilot asked me if on my sim, the simulate the cabin altitude, so i said that i don't know because i actually don't know what is that' but when i asked him, i did not entirely understanded, so now i'll ask you folks, what is that mea? i know where it's located, but what is that means? thanks for all of you, regards!

As you now, in high altitudes, the outside air pressure is insufficient for humans to survive. The pressurization system in airliners takes outside air, and makes it flow into the fuselage, creating a higher pressure environment, suitable for humans. Cabin altitude measures pressure in the fuselage and is an indication that the pressure is equivalent to ambient pressure at such and such altitude, typicaly about 7-8 thousand feet.Cabin pressure is simulated in the 737NGX to all realistic extent possible in the NGX, e.g. it will not alter your perception with high cabin altitude, but all indications and systems are working as their should, including cabin altimeter, cabin VSI, differential pressure indication, warning horn and passenger oxygen masks automatic drop system, automatic and manual outflow valve operation. Also it models some malfunctions in the system.

it is the altiude of the cabin (I know, the clue's in the name) it is the altitude that your cabin is kept at when at FL..I don't know the exact algorithms, but isn't it something like 2000/2500FT for every 10000 feet of real altitude? so at FL390 your cabin would be at around 10000 feet?I'm sure some real knowlege will chime in here...:DbestjakeEDIT: See, somebody who knows what they're talking about is around :)

Hi Daniel, I am not at my computer right now but what he means, probably, is setting the cabin altitute to make it comfortable for the passengers. Ther are two knobs on the lower right side of the overhead panel where you set the cruise altitude and then the arrival airport altitude. If you look in the tutorial 1 documents it will also walk you through it.

thanks, so when the cabin altitude shows 7 that's means that the feeling in the cabin is like a 7000ft?

If that is indeed the cabin altitude gauge, then yes.If it is differential pressure indicator, then it depends on altitude the aircraft flies on.
