Flight Deck emergency operations

How do you get this plane you are talking about?
look no further!!What i've described above is part of the fourth update due in a couple of weeks which includes about 40 other changes. I would suggest downloading what's available now as there is a lot of stuff to digest in order to be proficient at handling the VC10The original model though excellent was lacking in functionallity and these updates bring it closer to reality. It has full on checklists, cabin-flightdeck interaction, pushback marshaller (in the 4th update you can actually see him!). Oh, and btw it's all free!!This is just in the forthcoming update 4 :-

You can simulate every switch and knob, pressure and failure, but, if you don't simulate the effect, it cannot be useful. For hypoxia, a "useful" simptoms simulation could be:Above 10000ft cabin altitude, panel (and other) textures becomes blurry, becoming unreadable, knobs and switches adds delay in functions (simulating pilot concioussness problems), a movie effect that adds visual distorsion able to limit the perception, all togheter with increased effects when continuing the climb, ending in a black display.Add to this also a proportional decrease of flight control efficiency (simulating pilot forces /reactivity going out) and it could be an approximate simulation. However, if you see them, you know that you must descent, so will not affect your reactivity.PS: great work on the systems of the VC 10 (I've not tried it, but reading for the functions, it looks great)

Of course it's not possible to simulate true hypoxia!! (only inside a hyperbolic chamber) However, a blackout can be! The testing has been quite scary. Coming too at around 15,000ft with the a/c in an erect steep dive over mountains, with pretty much every alarm going off.The point though is that yes this can be done but in order to do it requires full and proper modelling of the associated systems. If you don't manage your cabin altitude and your oxygen supply properly or If you don't don your mask immediately then the blackout modelling ensues! At least the VC10 has never and could not suffer the same fate as Helios (not just because it "does" have a cabin height gauge) Anything above 10,000ft sets off the a/c configuration horn which in this instance can only be turned off by the altitude alert button (after you have put on your mask of course!). A little more than just a "Master Caution" warning!!!vololiberista

I think the word you're looking for is hypobaric. The cockpit is a hyperbolic chamber! :( That's one area where this type of sim can beat a level D sim. Pretty cool!

How do you simulate hypoxia?
Hold you breath for 10 minutes...LOL
