March 28, 201214 yr I signed into the DigitalThemePark server for TeamSpeak and must say this isn't very "new-user" friendly. I couldn't raise attention from multiple staff members to get me validated so I could access AVSIM's portion. :( At this point I feel a new user with curiosity or just casual interest would probably stop trying to gain entry. I'm more resilient though and wanted to check this out. Perhaps we can somehow make the process smoother for new people? March 29, 201214 yr Were you not able to PM the staff members.. Todd aka Zoolander is usually hanging around somewhere and will almost always respond instantly.. I'm not sure as a newbie if you can msg anyone on the server but if one of the AVSIM TS admins are on, they might be able to help you out too. :)
March 29, 201214 yr Author I do remember seeing Zoolander logged in, but I didn't message him. I ended up picking another [staff] person and also SpiritFlyer who was in Hangar Chat. They had a blue circle next to their names so not sure if that meant they were inactive or what. I have some reading to do to learn. :( Sincerely, Chase My 2017 Build: Liquid Cooled i7 7700K CPU idle @ 4.2GHz | MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G | 16GB's DDR4 4000 RAM | ASUS 27" 144hz Gaming Monitor | MSI Z270 M7 Motherboard | Windows 10 | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB SSD
March 29, 201214 yr If they have a blue circle, means they are online, it will have a different icon if they are away.. That blue circle lights up when they speak.Hope that helps.. :)
March 31, 201214 yr Thanks for bringing this up. I will talk it over with Digital Theme Park to see if we can streamline the information and introduction process. It will get ironed out.Kind regards,
April 1, 201214 yr tbh I liked the old Teamspeak server better... No sharing with others. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
May 1, 201214 yr Hello gentlemen. I just wanted to pitch in as a newbi to the avsim ts service: I found it a bit disorienting to be honest. There is a multitude of channels, and I couldnt find any obvious info on how to find and get into the avsim specific channel. With a bit of self humour I could say that I tried, stared at the root folder tree, and ran away with my tail between my legs If there is any way you could, as you say, stream line this it would be beneficial to newcomers like myself. It must be easy and straight forward to lower the threshold to maximize retention of new people trying this service out. Im not sure if sharing the server with alot of others is a good thing (perhaps it is). In any case I want to thank the AVSIM staff for making AVSIM such a great community site! You are all doing a great job! Sincerely, Andreas S By the way, I just tried again just now, and there was no online staff, and I get insufficient rights error when I try to join any channel (included avsim). May 1, 201214 yr The process may not be quite outlined but I will try to outline it here to help: Logon to teamspeak at ts3.digitialthemepark.com You will be placed in a "Lobby" with my privledges Soon a staff member will arrive to welcome you, they will be annotated with [sTAFF] in their name.If no member appears then search the various rooms (just scroll up and down) and you should see a staff member in a room somewhere, they might be in the Staff Office rooms at the bottom. If you find one, right click on their name and open text chat and then tell them your new and want to be part of the AVSIM group. If nobody responds then just hang out in the Lobby until someone comes by or you can contact someone already in the AVSIM channel and IM them and if they know how to set you up, they can.. [*]As soon as you talk with the staff member, they will set you up with appropriate privileges and move you to the correct channel. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. On a side note, when you login you receive the following message in your Teamspeak window, which might help. "Welcome to DigitalThemePark. Please double-click on Zoolander64 or Hollywood and IM for citizenship. If we are away, double-click on any users name to contact them."
