March 30, 201214 yr Hey Don,speaking of checklists...i do them every time but i still haven't figured out how to manually do some things so i just skip it, namely checking instruments part. I tried everything, zooming in, looking around, hovering my mouse over it but to no avail. Can you help me out here?CheersAs far as I can tell, any thing with the "eye" icon (inspect) on the checklist must be manually incremented by using the "3" key. Aaron

March 30, 201214 yr As far as I can tell, any thing with the "eye" icon (inspect) on the checklist must be manually incremented by using the "3" key. That's exactly what i do every time :) But for some reason, i don't think that's the way it's meant to be done. Perhaps i am wrong.Cheers

The check items will never ever be 'ticked on' automatically.EDITOthers were quicker. But this is the only way it will work.However... I am often stuck in a checklist and always at items that need to be checked. It seems as if you do something else in the VC before you move on with the list, you are stuck: quite often pressing 3 (or 1, 2 or 4) does nothing and ALL I can do is to press Q to quit the list... Odd, weird and slightly annoying because I still havent' figured out what's causing this.BTW What I'd like to see changed is how you get to the various checklists... When you end a certain list, the windows closes: when you want to do the next list, you have to go all through the menu again...! Which of course is a bit daft. You should immediately be presented with the next possible checklist. Imho. This specially gets annoying when you want to use the landing checklist because they are hidden even a menu deeper.
March 30, 201214 yr I tried everything, zooming in, looking around, hovering my mouse over it but to no avail. Can you help me out here?No problem - some of those are simply stating for you to observe and then move on. Look at the little icon next to the command, say for instance monitor oil pressure - you will see the little icon is different than the others that do require input from you.To move on from those that you simply " observe" then go on, you press the 3 key < which it states in that same window, 3 to go to next or something like that>.I did the same the first couple times using the checklist till I went - duh! :smile:Hmm , just saw Jeroen's reply - I was under impression you were mainly talking about things meant to observe only. If it is only to observe, pressing 3 should get it to move on. Note that is the 3 on the keyboard, not the numpad.Come to think of it, I think mine did get stuck one time where it required input by me, and I ended up closing out the checklist window. I think it has just been that one time so far though. Don B

When you end a certain list, the windows closes: when you want to do the next list, you have to go all through the menu again...!Hey Jeroen,Now you are just getting lazy man!! :smile:I am with you, would be nice for the next one to popup, well cept maybe after doing the cruise one, but that could be quickly closed. I have my checklist toggle command programmed to a button on my throttle so not to bad for me.Btw - speaking of wind affecting the Maule on take-off, did you ever pull the trigger on those pedals you were looking at? Don B
March 30, 201214 yr When the checklist stops responding to the number key presses it is due to a known bug.
March 31, 201214 yr Just did some more flights with the Maule. Love it. My favorite weather theme right now is Low and threatening: you get awesome looking skies, some fog at certain altitudes but it's still quite easy to fly around. Did a job at night, at dawn at day: it all looks beautiful. So immersive and cool and awesome! The trick to move a little before you can set the fuel works like a charm. I also added another trick to the procedures: set fuel to 100% before actually starting a job...! I did a job at an airport after finishing another and hardly had any fuel onboard, but I couldn't load more at that airport...! You can however dump fuel, so... I set fuel to 100% everytime so I can continue setting up everything to my needs.BTW:1. The checklist says to cruise with full throttle all the time...? Isn't that a bit odd?2. Changing the mixture does have a clear effect on fuel flow but almost nothing on MP and RPM. However, I do lose speed when I lower the mixture... shouldn't I see something more happening with the MP? I don't hear the enginesound change until at 16%, as I said before. Anyway, it does work but not as expected or as I am used to in FSX.I used the checklists to see if I was doing everything a bit by the book: biggest surprise was that the flaps have a -7 setting which you should use during cruise...! Never heard of a minus setting for flaps.
March 31, 201214 yr used the checklists to see if I was doing everything a bit by the book: biggest surprise was that the flaps have a -7 setting which you should use during cruise...! Never heard of a minus setting for flaps.Yeah it is specific to the Maule.I adjust my mixture, prop rpm, and flaps per the checklist at cruise, seems to work pretty well for me. Don B
March 31, 201214 yr Never tried a checklist for cruise but gotta say i am surprised it sets the throttle to full  Weird. I will check the RL Maule manual to make sure that's correct.@J Van E:I only once tried low and threatening and to be honest, i don't remember exactly how it looks but after reading what you wrote, i will now give it a try and perhaps record some cool looking video :PIf you haven't tried already, set the weather theme to "among the giants" and try flying at dusk during fall. If i recall correctly, it looks amazing with yellowish skies and huge clouds. And yes, it is quite rare but Maule's default flaps configuration for cruise is -7. Kinda cool :DCheers
March 31, 201214 yr I LOOOOOVE Low and threatening! Just did another flight with it to Molokai. Coming in from the East over those high cliffs south of PHLU with the sun pushing its light through the grey clouds.... AWESOME!!!This game has so many WOW-moments when it comes to graphics and atmospehere... it's amazing! I also love those shadows which FINALLY give me the impression of LIGHT! I always missed light in FSX.
March 31, 201214 yr 1. The checklist says to cruise with full throttle all the time...? Isn't that a bit odd?Don't know the real aircraft, never seen the POH, but I wouldn't rule it out. As you climb with a non-turbo/supercharged engine it will have less oxygen to work with so you will be slowly losing manifold pressure. If that engine is designed to operate at those pressures, then do what the checklist says. IIRC the Flight checklist does say to use 25 In Hg or full throttle. I would interpret that to mean that you should not exceed 25 In Hg in cruise.2. Changing the mixture does have a clear effect on fuel flow but almost nothing on MP and RPM. However, I do lose speed when I lower the mixture... shouldn't I see something more happening with the MP? I don't hear the enginesound change until at 16%, as I said before. Anyway, it does work but not as expected or as I am used to in FSX.It took me a while to hear the effect on the engine in the "upper range" of the mixture settings, but like I said, it is somewhat subtle at lower altitudes. If you do a run up at 7K MSL and very slowly adjust the mixture, you should hear the engine noise "strengthen" as you lean out to somewhere around halfway in the Maule. There is still a lot of travel left before the engine will die, but between that midpoint and starving the engine it will produce less and less power. If you listen very closely, you should pick up that it becomes a little more quiet. Try doing the run up procedure at airports at different elevations and observe the engine sounds. BTW, the mixture doesn't feel quite right to me either, but I do notice a pronounced effect on the climb rate at a fixed airspeed when leaning at as low as 5K. This is even when I only pull it back to about 60%. The engine sound barely changes, but the increase in the climb rate doesn't lie.
March 31, 201214 yr I know about the "3" and i use it since the beginning, i was just under the impression that Flight should recognize if i just take a peek at the instrument without having to pres "3" to skip to the next item :)Well, if you think about it, it's hard for the sim to figure out that the gauge is showing something that's acceptable to you, without your input :).
