Dear Sirs,

 

To my surprise, I noticed this morning that the PMDG fora are no longer visible to visitors of the avsim forums who are not logged in. Is that is really wished by the developers who use the avsim forum as the home of their support fora? How many more are to follow?

 

I am a little concerned, even as a longer term avsim registered user, that commercial support fora, regardless of whether they are offical or unofficial, will be no longer even visible unless you are logged in. In the case of PMDG, it needs to be made clear, if not already, that additional support via the fora beyond the realms of your (albeit wonderful and effective, and I do not mean this sarcastically) ticketing system requires the purchaser to register for an additional, non-PMDG system. I for one am not that happy about the idea of being "forced" into sharing data with other parties.

 

Now, if the support fora were hosted solely by PMDG, as with Aerosoft, I would not have any issue... at the end of the day, the data lie within the same organization...

 

I would be interested to read people's thoughts on this, how you feel. I request that you keep any personal insults or flames to yourselves though :)...

It is not so much the personal data, but more the fact of having to register at a completely different location to be able to even read posts...

That was an ooops. They are now readable.

If I had realized that, I would never have posted what I wrote above...

 

Perhaps I'll just PM an AVSIM team member in the future and ask...

 

I did strike me as odd that the commercial support fora would be made non-readable...

 

Thanks for the feedback, anyway... perhaps it would be best to close or lock this if you find the time...

I was wondering too, about the change. Not a big deal IMO.
