What are the number wheels on the control colums used for? Ref speeds, weights etc???. I would really like to know. Regards Darren.

Reminders to the crew. Flight number (so you don't hear Delta uh... 123), frequencies, weights or any other number that needs to be remembered.

 

Now my opinion (jokingly of course) is the Captain's numbers are how many times he has to hit the First Officer in the head with a newspaper. The First Officer's numbers are the for the flight number.
