TCAS issue resolution at low altitude

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm flying a lot with this beautiful plane and yesterday I noticed a probable issue.

I was on IVAO and established on the ILS at around 1000 feets when I had a TCAS resolution because an ATR was taking off on the opposite runway (it happens sometimes with newbies). Anyway my TCAS announced "Descent ! Descent !" and then "Climb ! Climb!". I was low so I let you imagine my face when I heard "Descent!".

On Airbus TCAS resolution is inhibited below 1500 or 2000ft (I don't remember exactly). Is this implemented on B737? If yes, what about the PMDG B737 ?

Hi,

I thought TCAS will do a traffic warning only below 1000ft (maybe even more, I don't know it exaclty) I think. The ND shows it on the lower left. Above 1000 or 1500 ft or something like that also the traffic resolution advisatorys are enabled.

All you have to do is change RA to TA below a certain altitude.

The 737 TCAS changes mode automatically to TA Only below 1500ft on approach.

This may be a bug. I know that it shows TA and not TA/RA below 1000 feet (or something) but has anyone actually experienced it and tested it?
