April 9, 201214 yr :Cuppa: Thought it was interesting how they came up with the Ivy Bridge codename as I remember a former Intel chip was named 'Conroe' after a town in Texas (where my sister lives). They originally named the Sandy Bridge project 'Gesher' since the chip was designed in Haifa, Israel. Since 'Gesher' was the name of a failed political party in Israel they didn't want to name it after that so they changed the name to 'bridge' as this is what Gesher means in Hebrew. The only thing really left some wondering is how Intel came up with 'Sandy' and 'Ivy'. For more on that, see this link - http://freepress.intel.com/community/news/blog/2010/12/28/sandy-bridge-breaks-the-mold-for-chip-codenames. Now you know the rest of the story.... Best regards, Jim
