Song recorded in memory of the crew of Columbia...

Recommended Posts

Hello folks...A sad day it is today. I don't consider myself a musician by any means. I can't read sheet music, for example. Anyway, I do play the American Indian flute, and todays events have inspired me to record a song in memory of the crew of Space Shuttle Columbia. It's called "Ride in the Sky".You can download the MP3 from here:http://www.visualflightrules.com/rideinthesky.mp3Enjoy... And let us never forget those brave souls lost today.

JLTatum, Thats a beautiful piece. Would you mind if I can try to have this played on the air? I mean on the major networks in dedication for the crew? I cant promise anything but I know a few people. Let me know what you think.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/shuttle.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/dedication.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/takeoff.gifTonyFlyII! ver. 2.40Directx 8.1nVidia drivers 41.09

JLTatum, Ok thanks for the approval. If I can get it done I will let you know. Or you will hear it on TV. :)I think its even cooler that you took the time to compose it. As a person whose heritage is of Native descent, I really appreciated it. I have a few pages on my website about Native Americans. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/native.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/dedication.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/takeoff.gifTonyFlyII! ver. 2.40Directx 8.1nVidia drivers 41.09ECS K7S5A SOCKETA /DDR/ATX MB, DDR SRAM 128MB PC-2100 266MHZ MEMORY ,AMD ATHLON T-BIRD 1.2GHZ 256K FSB266 PGA , NVIDIA GEFORCE2 MX-400 64MB AGP

You did great work, believe me. I didn't even know of this instrument, but its sound is real exotic, also that echo makes you real think. How does this thing look like?Thank you very much,Etienne

Thank you very much for this beautiful song, Jason. The mournful notes really capture (IMHO) the feelings, which we are all feeling at this time. Yesterday, I was one of the unfortunate Dallas/Ft. Worth area residents who were outside watching as the horrible tragedy unfolded over our heads. Thank you again for your beautiful song...it's good medicine for a heavy heart.Warm regards,Brian Higinbotham

A wonderful tribute, JL...Another song I find very fitting is from the Beautiful Mind soundtrack, the first song "A Kaliedoscope of Mathematics".The song is beautifully done and captures my feelings quite well- that while this is a sad day, we can take comfort in the fact that they died doing something truly noble. Exploring the frontiers of the universe with a crew of people from around the world, working in harmony towards a common goal.

And by the way, I just had a look at your site, it's really good! Nice shots.Regarding these flying shots, suddenly, when I saw the thumbnails, I thought that was from FS. When looking at these winter shots from January (2002), firstly then it came to my mind that FS ain't so bad after all. These shots just look like the virtual cockpit, just with sharpened textures. Now, what a realization. It opened my eyes, really. :-eekBut are you still with FlightCraft? You are not on the members page. However, when will you release the first version of your CockpitGrafix? Looking great. Seems to be a nice alternative to PM... Ahem... Price etc..Keep it up,Etienne

Beautiful Jason. Lord, guard and guide the men who flyThough the great spaces in the sky.Be with them always in the air,In darkening storms or sunlight fair;Oh, hear us when we lift our prayer,For those in peril in the air!Aloft in solitudes of space,Uphold them with Thy saving grace.Thou Who supports with tender mightThe balanced birds in all their flight.Lord, if the tempered winds be near,That, having Thee, they know no fear.

>But are you still with FlightCraft? You are not on the >members page. This is true, I am not a member of FlightCraft anymore and haven't been so in a long time. It has been far too long since I last updated my web site. I've been planning on rebuilding the whole site for awhile now, but I keep pushing it off. As far as the Dragonfly goes, I'm not sure I'm going to continue on that because there is a commercial T-37 on the market that seems pretty decent enough. >However, when will you release the first >version of your CockpitGrafix? Looking great.Been a long, long time since I worked on this. One of these days I'll finish it up and release a version of it. Shouldn't take too long. Kinda on the backburner right now as I'm doing development on a game at the moment.
