February 2, 200323 yr Hello folks...A sad day it is today. I don't consider myself a musician by any means. I can't read sheet music, for example. Anyway, I do play the American Indian flute, and todays events have inspired me to record a song in memory of the crew of Space Shuttle Columbia. It's called "Ride in the Sky".You can download the MP3 from here:http://www.visualflightrules.com/rideinthesky.mp3Enjoy... And let us never forget those brave souls lost today.
February 2, 200323 yr JLTatum, Thats a beautiful piece. Would you mind if I can try to have this played on the air? I mean on the major networks in dedication for the crew? I cant promise anything but I know a few people. Let me know what you think.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/shuttle.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/dedication.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/takeoff.gifTonyFlyII! ver. 2.40Directx 8.1nVidia drivers 41.09
February 2, 200323 yr Thanks for the kind words, Tony. That would be really cool if you could get it played. I've got no objections here! Let me know if it makes it.Thanks,
February 2, 200323 yr JLTatum, Ok thanks for the approval. If I can get it done I will let you know. Or you will hear it on TV. :)I think its even cooler that you took the time to compose it. As a person whose heritage is of Native descent, I really appreciated it. I have a few pages on my website about Native Americans. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/native.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/dedication.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/takeoff.gifTonyFlyII! ver. 2.40Directx 8.1nVidia drivers 41.09ECS K7S5A SOCKETA /DDR/ATX MB, DDR SRAM 128MB PC-2100 266MHZ MEMORY ,AMD ATHLON T-BIRD 1.2GHZ 256K FSB266 PGA , NVIDIA GEFORCE2 MX-400 64MB AGP

February 2, 200323 yr You did great work, believe me. I didn't even know of this instrument, but its sound is real exotic, also that echo makes you real think. How does this thing look like?Thank you very much,Etienne
February 2, 200323 yr Thanks...Here's what my American Indian flute looks like:http://www.visualflightrules.com/indianflute.jpgThey can be made from all kinds of different woods. Mine is made from yellow cedar.
February 2, 200323 yr Thank you very much for this beautiful song, Jason. The mournful notes really capture (IMHO) the feelings, which we are all feeling at this time. Yesterday, I was one of the unfortunate Dallas/Ft. Worth area residents who were outside watching as the horrible tragedy unfolded over our heads. Thank you again for your beautiful song...it's good medicine for a heavy heart.Warm regards,Brian Higinbotham
February 2, 200323 yr Oh this flute looks really interesting! But the sound is just great. Thanks again for sharing with us.Etienne
February 2, 200323 yr A wonderful tribute, JL...Another song I find very fitting is from the Beautiful Mind soundtrack, the first song "A Kaliedoscope of Mathematics".The song is beautifully done and captures my feelings quite well- that while this is a sad day, we can take comfort in the fact that they died doing something truly noble. Exploring the frontiers of the universe with a crew of people from around the world, working in harmony towards a common goal.
February 2, 200323 yr And by the way, I just had a look at your site, it's really good! Nice shots.Regarding these flying shots, suddenly, when I saw the thumbnails, I thought that was from FS. When looking at these winter shots from January (2002), firstly then it came to my mind that FS ain't so bad after all. These shots just look like the virtual cockpit, just with sharpened textures. Now, what a realization. It opened my eyes, really. :-eekBut are you still with FlightCraft? You are not on the members page. However, when will you release the first version of your CockpitGrafix? Looking great. Seems to be a nice alternative to PM... Ahem... Price etc..Keep it up,Etienne
February 3, 200323 yr Beautiful Jason. Lord, guard and guide the men who flyThough the great spaces in the sky.Be with them always in the air,In darkening storms or sunlight fair;Oh, hear us when we lift our prayer,For those in peril in the air!Aloft in solitudes of space,Uphold them with Thy saving grace.Thou Who supports with tender mightThe balanced birds in all their flight.Lord, if the tempered winds be near,That, having Thee, they know no fear.
