Due to a glitch somewhere in the operating system which is making computer start-up a hit and miss affair a total reinstall is envisaged in the next few days. Is there anything I can back up with regard to speech recognition so that I do not have to go through the whole training process again.

Not that I know of. You'd have to ask MS, but I doubt you can.

 

Just run the voice training again... it only takes 5 minutes if that.
