What should I expect from non-overclocked PC like this?

Thanks for the encouraging words. Perhaps I should finally try OC.

9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung,  AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

You could overclock that chip on the stock fan and get a substantial increase. I run my Core i5 760 @ 3.4ghz (up from 2.8 stock) with the stock intel fan and my chip NEVER goes above 65oC. That chip will manage a 600mhz OC without changing any fan, and with minimal messing about. Also, I run on...

core i5 760 @ 3.4ghz

gtx 560 ti

4gb ddr3 ram

And get great FPS with the ngx and similar addons, but I've found 2 things which greatly effect FPS - AI traffic and level of details. With AI Traffic at 10% and LOD at medium with scenery all on normal, I get 30fps all the time, even on approach to UK2000 airports. Granted it doesnt look as great as the sims with hundreds of accurately modelled planes, ground traffic, collosal autogen density and an airport with 12 billion polygons, but if you get your rig OC'd you will!

It'd be a huge waste of your CPU to OC, and honestly it's so easy to get it to 4ghz...You require almost no knowledge.

Hi,

I'm currently building the new machine (plan to order the parts tonight) which is

i7-2770k

8GB PC10660 DDR3

WD 600GB

GTX 580

ASUS Z77 Sabertooth.

There is no plans to overclock.

I need your well-balanced and constructive opinion about what level of performance I should expect if I'm planning to use PMDG NGX, ASE2012, FSDreamteam sceneries, UTUSA, GEUSA with no autogen/no cars/no boats, but max AI (no GA) and max scenery complexity. I also plan to use DXT3/DTX 5 textures for REX textures and PMDG textures including VC.

I really need to make a decision, because I will get less than 20fps in FSDT KJFK with the FSX options such as I described above, I would rather stay with my current FS2004 customized set-up.

Thank you for you feedback

Dmitriy

You will get good performance during the day, but if you want to fly in dusk, it will crawl. If you set it up properly, you should be smooth.

BTW, most boards are set up to OC on their own. So unless you set it up to run at stock, your board is going to push that chip to a higher speed when using FSX. This could cause instability. So, it's judicious to learn how to OC the board manually.

Hey Dmitriy, all is not lost my friend. I have to admit at being one of the few guys around here who has not personally OCd his rig :sorry: Yeah, I know, hang my head in shame. Although I did OC my last rig with the help of Alain Needle, my current rig was bought from OverclockersUK and it is a i5 2500k SB system and runs at 4.6Ghz! Believe me, as everyone else has said, it's no good blowing hard earned cash on a system that is not OCd. It's a bit like buying a Ferrari that only drives as fast as a Ford! Today's processors are a far cry from even ones from a couple fo years ago and will OC extremely well. They OC to the point that some of the companies that supply pre-overclocked machines do so with a guarantee! My rig came with a guarantee, so there really is no problem, providing, like most things in life, you do it correctly. If like me, for whatever reason, you would prefer to have a machine that has been overclocked for you, then why not see if there is a company who can supply a pre-overclocked machine.

There are youtube videos that show exactly what you need to do to get an average OC, to say, 4.2ghz. They're very simple and made up of a number of steps, I'll try to dig one out for you when I get home from being an insurance broker (which I am much better at than you are at accounting, given my willingness to OC! haha)

Don't take this the bad way: locked. Guess why.
