Curious, ERJ-1000?

Featured Replies

So, on the way home last night, I got off I-87 at Exit 9 in Upstate NY. As I was waiting to turn left onto Hwy 146 West, turning right from Hwy 146 to get on I-87 north was a wide load flatbed truck. On the side of the covered flatbed, was a sign that said "fragile, aviation parts." Next to it was another sign, that said "CRJ-1000." The flat-bed was long, but it didnt seem long enough for a fuselage.

My second question, I know of NO WHERE in this part of NY that would be making or even retrofitting a CRJ? Thoughts anyone?

Was it possible that it was two engines on cradles?

Build-up of the CF34 is completed in Lynn, Mass and the CRJ1000 is being tested in Montreal. They could have gone over to Albany and up 87 to avoid 93 in New Hampshire.

makes sense, but still doesn't explain why they were "off" I-87 at exit 9. I-87 connects right with I-90, and if they were coming from Mass they could have taken I-90 West straight to I-87 north. Oh, well, was a neat view anyway. :Nerd:

Maybe the trucker stopped to grab a bite to eat? That's the first thing that comes to mind since Clifton Park has so many restaurants right off the Northway. I didnt't usually go on the west side of 87 since I was always heading to Schenectady, but if I recall correctly there's a Cracker Barrel and a pasta place on that side.

My thoughts as well.

Btw, the CRJ-1000 is extremely long. Long enough to be comical.

As far as I know the final assembly for this aircraft is in Mirabel north of Montreal. Must have been heading up that way.
