May 12, 201214 yr Moderator Another thing I suggest. Use a default aircraft and fly out of a default airport. You really don't need to reinstall RC4 because I'm sure the problem lies in your OS and its settings. If you have a 3rd party LAX it could be hammering the memory if you have lots of Ai. May 12, 201214 yr Moderator Well as u saw that screenshot i posted for u was with Fsdreamteams JFK airport with Lots of AI traffic so im very confident thats not the case.. It could well be the case if there's not enough memory left to run RC4. Go to a quiet airport - I suggest KSAN - and create a plan to fly up to LAX. You could also compare your memory resources at KSAN with those taken at KJFK and see if there's an appreciable difference. Ray (Cheshire, England). May 12, 201214 yr Moderator Open 'Event Viewer' and locate the Applications section. Find one of the crashes and post the information here. XP should give enough information to help fix the problem. And can you post a screenshot of your page file settings please. Ray (Cheshire, England). May 12, 201214 yr After you type in your message select More Reply Options on the Bottom, then Manage Files. Browse to the jpg then click attach. It will upload the jpg then click Add To Post. You can then preview the post and if you are done just click submit. On your C drive which you say is almost full check how much drive space is left as there is where by default is your Windows\Temp folder for temporary files. This is different than paging files. Use the recycle bin to clear out unnecessary files there. There should be minimum 20 MB or so available at least. There are lots of temporary files including a cache from the Internet browsing, etc. If you want you can bring your My Computer, then right click on each drive and select properties. It should show a pie chart of the drive and give you the opportunities to clean it up. Even if you assign another temporary file drive Windows still insists on putting some files in the system drive (C:\Windows\Temp) and if you did not reassign it C: emp by default will have some.
May 12, 201214 yr Author I have 3.5 gigs left on my C drive so 20MB is no problemos. I sent JD a new log see if he can make something out of it because when i look at task manager of the memory it only shows 1,3 gigs of memory in use and i have 16 so theres plenty to go around.. May 12, 201214 yr There is one more system item you can check. Bring up control panel and click on and administrator tools. Click on event viewer. This orders events by time (most recent at top) as informational and error entries. Look in the application and system categories. Look for one the time of the crash and click on it to get more details.

May 13, 201214 yr Moderator That log doesn't help. Read the guidance on this site. http://www.askdaveta...in_windows.html Report back how much VM is used by FSX and RC if it runs long enough. As you have 16Gb of RAM your page file should be 1.5x larger. Please confirm your page file is 24Gb. The only other thing I would say is that XP 64-bit wasn't the finest OS and if these problems continue you might want to think about Windows7. Try running FSX in windowed mode and have Task Manager visible so you can monitor the size of the page file. The size of that will prove once and for all if your OOM problems are related to it being too small or insufficient space to create a larger one. Is your PF a fixed size or do you leave it to Windows to control it? Ray (Cheshire, England). May 13, 201214 yr Moderator RC4.3 uses 16Mb of virtual memory on my system. It's likely to be the same on yours. The difference is I have it running on a separate PC via WideFS. I'm fresh out of ideas on how to solve your problem. If you have another PC you could try running RC4 on that. You will need a WideFS licence of course. Sorry I couldn't solve the problem. I'm sure RC isn't the problem and to prove it try opening lots of large JPGs if you can. If you run out of memory it points to a wider PC issue and not RC4. Ray (Cheshire, England). May 13, 201214 yr Moderator Yeah i can open as much JPG.s as i like and it doesnt even slow down my computer.. Ohhh do i need to purchase WideFS? Yes but there is a demo version which may help you decide if it helps your problem. http://secure.simmarket.com/pete-dowson-widefs7.phtml Ohh and btw i only have 1 PC i didnt know i needed 2 just for running programs . You don't NEED a second PC for FS but a lot of poeple find running weather programs and other fs-related software on a separate PC helps FS9/FSX performance. Many people run RC4 on the same PC as FSX without problem. It was just a suggestion that might cure your problem for the lowest amount of money. Ray (Cheshire, England).
