May 17, 201214 yr Author Umberto, Thanks for the info you supplied, It was very interesting since I am not what you would call an expert on computers. I grew up with a "slide rule", which was my hand held computer back in my days. I have learned a lot from this thread from those providing helpful information that I may be able to use in the future. Was "addon manager" the real cause? I don't have a clue. All I can say for some reason my computer on starting FSX crashed badly within 10 seconds without warning on most ocassions. I have been using FSDT products for a few years and have never had any problems. I have reinstalled addon manager and enabled all FSDT sceneries and everything is back to normal. Again thanks for clearing up this matter concernng '\Addon Manager" Regards, Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
May 17, 201214 yr Just to add, although the FSDT Addon Manager was mentioned here, it didn't had anything to do with the problem Thanks for the indepth explanation Umberto. I mentioned a possible problem with the FS Addon Manager as the OP indicated he did not trust the bglmanx.dll (think that was the name of the .dll) when he started up FSX. So I thought that was a possibility for his CTD's. If one does not trust this dll, would that cause a crash or problems with running your software? Best regards, Jim
May 17, 201214 yr Commercial Member Nothing in this problem was connected to the Addon Manager. If a user doesn't trust a module to run, it will simply not start, and something that is not even running can't surely crash. The whole point of having a trust system in Windows is that, if you don't trust something, it doesn't execute *any* of its code. So, by definition, not trusting something can't cause its crash, because it hasn't even started. As I've said, the initial problem was clearly caused by some other module written in .NET, as proven by the kind of error report, which is specific only to .NET apps, and none of our modules are a .NET app. Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook
May 17, 201214 yr And to back you up further, Unberto, in your very detailed analysis, in the .NET stuff, I had my PMDG MD-11 bring FSX to a sudden CTD today and all because of that .NET which I think somebody( could have been Ryan) has explained elsewhere although not directly related to PMDG software as they do not use it, but it plays a hand in the C++ code, and thus causes CTDs.
