Runway skidmarks

Featured Replies

We were flying online the other night and my mate Rolf said "The skid marks on the default runways are too 'intense', is there a way of reducing them?" "Duh, dunno" I said. Anyone have any idea if it's possible. I have to say that he's now made me see runways in a totally different light. They're doing my head in now!

Change your skivies more often. Actually Rex has a set of textures with better runway markings/ I suppose their are other runway textures the same.

How rude! Actually, whichever REX texture you use, the tyre marks join in the middle of a runway. Unless of course, you only fly into Heathrow or LAX. At the sort of airports I/we use in Orbx country the tyre marks are definitely overdone. So the answer isn't with REX. Appreciate your input though.

Hey Ron, so you have REX? I have it and like the settings that I have chosen but you know I haven't played around much with them, I don't recall them joining in the middle but may be true that they are somewhat intense.

Yes I have REX+HD and I'm using the least rubbered textures I can find.To be honest I never noticed before Rolf pointed it out. Now they mostly look like 747s have been landing every 3 minutes.....from both ends! Take a look at 61S just south of 77S Creswell. It's a 3189ft runway and 3000ft of it is black rubber coated.

yup checked it out, i would have been glad that I wasn't in the planes that landed "that" far from the runway end...yikers.

Is that orbx tire marks? or REX tire marks?

The default runway textures suck, because you can only have one texture the entire length of the runway I believe. That's the best part about addon airports, they correctly texture runways so the landing zones have all the skid marks.

Right, having established that they are wrong...is there a specific texture that we can mangle in Photoshop?
