I believe you.

My FSX install even with recent FSX.CFG rebuild and before and after switching to Word Not Allowed's settings has always maxxed VRAM at Orbx S43 at least according to MSI Afterburner with my previous 5870 and 560 and now uses ~1.4GB as seen in with EVGA PrecisionX just now in the following screenshot:

If you guys could just share with me your FSX VRAM weight loss secret I'd kindly appreciate it :Party:

Ok I figured out why I was using 1.4GB while most others are <1GB, this was due to me running the following nonstandard config:

1920x1080

WideViewAspect=False

Zoom: 0.3

I had been running those settings for the last year or two to avoid the slight bit of stretch I noticed when using

WideViewAspect=True

Zoom: 0.4

But tonight I reverted to that more normal setting to test something and lo and behold I saw my VRAM usage go down to 800MB-950MB in that same S43/C90/Rainy scenario.

So I guess I will stop using the nonstandard config, mystery solved, weird that the VRAM usage differs so much with WideViewAspect=False though.

That is an interesting read. I have been using this setting for years:

1920x1080

WideViewAspect=False

Zoom: 0.3,

and I have a max VRAM usage of 800MB on my 1Gb card.

Cheers

Maybe you switching configs there reset something somewhere? what happens if you go back to the original ...?
