MCE and Radar Contact?

Featured Replies

I can not get MCE to work properly with RC. They are up to date and run compatibly but no matter what I do, I can't get RC to respond to a properly formatted clearance request or anything else for that matter. RC will respond to a command like "ATC 1" to select an RC request or acknowledgement from the canned list but that's it. Anybody solved this issue yet?

Ok

Firstly have you set up RC4(general Settings) as per the MCE manual?

Always start MC after RC4 has assigned flight plan and call sign

Do you get any response when you say :

Get Radar contact info

or

Synch radar contact

Also have you checked 'Use Radar Contact' on the MCE ATC interface tab?

Is you radio tuned the the correct frequency. You can tell Your FO to do that

I know that seems like a lot of questions at once. Hopefully if they are right, we can start to look at other things

BTW, have you completed the voice training

Thanks mate. I'll work through each suggestion and get back to you. I think that I have them covered but will double check.

Eric. could you make sure you do get back if you find the solution, because when i tried the demo a while back, i had the same problem and i am now getting ready to purchase MCE.

Thanks,

Guys,

You might try this, just to make sure that MCE picks up the correct location of RC4

Open your user mce.ini (not the one in installation folder) in C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Multi Crew Experience\mce.ini

Make sure the ATC section looks like this

[ATC]

UseRadioNoise=1

StaticNoiseLevel=1

SecondaryNeedAtcWindow=0

atc1=0

atc2=0

atc3=1

atc4=1

atc5=0

UseRadarContact=1

IgnoreRC4Registry=1

Don't forget to save the file.

Note the "IgnoreRC4Registry=1" which will cause MCE to prompt you for RC4 path. After that it will be able to read the rcv3.dat.

It used to bother me to look like an idiot but I'm so old I'm getting used to it. I worked through all of the suggestions above, including the MCE ATC file. In my case the key seems to have been to speak the phrase "Get Radar Contact Info" or " Synch radar contact". I received a reply that MCE had gathered the required information from RC. That was the first indication ever that indicated MCE and RC were working together. Now it seems only to be a matter of using the required RC phraseology. A clearance delivery request to RC produced a proper response but it took 15 or 20 seconds of dead silence before the clearance came through. Hope this helps somebody.

Thanks for the suggestions,

Eric

Glad you seemed to have sorted it.

Sometimes there could be a delay:

1. ATC talking to AI traffic. If you hear that just keep talking.

RC can have a 'delay' in itself and also when you get going with it, you will find that RC will keep asking you to contact the next 'controller', when you have already acknowledged the 'hand off'. That's one of the quirks of RC.

When you get all sorted out; MCE +RC4 are just fantastic working together!
