FS9 and FSX on same HDD

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I need some help.. i have FSX installed and since QW Avro is out i am thinking to fire up again FS9. Will it cause any problem to being on the same HDD with FSX? The HDD is not partitioned.

Thanx

There are two separate programs running out of separate folders, separate registry entries, etc. There should be no problems. Many simmers have them both on the same drive... no problems.

No problems at all. I've actually just reinstalled FS9 because of the QW Avro (grr.. taken ages to get it all up and running again :) . Both sit on the same physical drive on the same partition, all is good.

A bit OT though...it has got me reinstalling a lot of my old regional airports that serve this bird so well. Seems to me to be a bit of a dearth of regionals in FSX.. am I wrong - are there any recommendeds?

Many people do it. I have , or use to have, FS9, FSX and Prepar3D and OS on 4 separate 180g Raptor HDD's. I recently retired FS9. This has worked excellent for me over the yrs. It is a dedicated Flight Simulator computer with only the listed and associated programs installed and running in a network config. No Antivirus, browser etc on flight computer.

Only problem I know of is kind of esoteric, I have both FS9 and FSX on my C: drive,

and from time to time an install corrupts the Registry path to FSX, when this happens

I believe (this is my working theory) that PMDG planes when run in FSX get confused

and actually pull data from the FS9 tree. This results in things like ILS paths being slightly

off. Its an easy enough fix, you just get the registry repair app from Flight1 and run it after

any new install into one of the sims.

I have both installed on the same disk and do not have any issues as they are completely seperate installs.
