He knows me under my real name ( i always wrote s. kostic), his name is jihyun kim.

No b panels. Only a-.

As long as you count with the fact that they are just that (taken the price into account!), you'll be fine :-)

Ah well, you see, cool guy. Thanks.

Let us know when you get it!

No OSD (either manually change via driver or get a colorimeter, like I did)

what does this mean and will i need it? Any recommends on removing the stand?

I will post back as soon as i get it. How long did it take to arrive for you?

It means that you can only change the brightness via buttons on the screen. No way of changing contrast or colors. Also nothing on display showing what you are changing.

This is why I recommend getting some kind of calibration tool with the screen (for instance Spyder4Pro is enough for calibration, it even regulates brightness automatically if you let it). It's not a must, you can just push the brightness down and it should be enough for most of people who don't do graphical work - the screen looks AMAZING in games, even when not calibrated (mine has quite cold white point, about 9900K, so I wanted to pull it down a bit, running calibrated 6500K now).

But as I said, it is not a must, brightness is sufficient for many people.

Any recommends on removing the stand?

I did following: I took a screw driver, cut out a piece of plastic (which is commonly used for packaging of mouses etc), and I put it around the tip of the screw driver, and then fixated it with a scotch tape. This way I had a screw driver with a plastic tip, which was softer than metal, and hopefully damage the plastic less. Catleap is really hard to open, no matter how many times you did it. I have very small dents now, but I am really not bothered by it (I hardly see them, or actually don't see them at all). If you are really careful you can get away without any damage.

I unhooked the screen, and took it out so I can work on the backpanel without any problems. After that everything else is self explanatory... you'll probably have to completely dismantle the foot that comes out, but you'll figure it out - it's nothing complicated for people not having two left hands :)

How long did it take to arrive for you?

3 working days. Ordered Friday, arrived Tuesday, but in Austria Monday was not working day. It's extremely fast shipment.

Hi Word Not Allowed

What is the advantage..or you see any in fs.. for a 120Hz monitor versus 60Hz

Thanks

Regards

That if your game supports running 120fps you can sync it to vsync, have no tearing and super-smooth gameplay. Not that it really matter for FSX... some report mouse moving smoother, LOL :)

:LMAO: Ok.. I'm very interested in this monitor but my concern is that this monitor is 16:9..

whats is the advantage of a monitor with aspect ratio 16:10 vs 16:9 in fsx

I'm in betwen the Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" LED LCD Monitor - 16:10 - 8 ms and this catleap

Thanks

Regards

There is no real importance in FSX. The resolution is going to be correct, and I had previously 1600x1200, and now having 2560x1440, and I see more and it's just more awesome. If 16:9 or 16:10, couldn't care less. Besides, only big + I see for this monitor is when I watch movies, they are full screen, which is really cool, not like my old, which had black bars above and below.

I had Dell on my desk. I sent it back to Amazon. In fact, I had 5 different screens here, before I settled with this one.

The glossy screen is SO much better and clearer, compared to U2412M, U2410, ZR24W, ZR2440W and Samsung S24A850DW. I tried all of these and those AG coatings really disturbed me, after I saw how clear the picture is on my laptop. Then I decided to go glossy 27inches... never ever going back again. I hate my Samsung 24incher since I'm using it as my 2nd screen, but I really couldn't care less for that since it's used primarily for SB4, moving maps, EFB, AS etc.

The only downside, can't have a window behind you - my window is in front of me, so this is a non-issue. And I can darken my room easily.

Thanks again Word Not Allowed, appreciate your help :-)

Regards

So i finally got the newest member of my toy collection....i ordered it Monday night Easter Daylightsavings Time(13hrs later in Korea so Tuesday morning) and it arrived yesterday at 1430EDT. It was incredibly fast considering the monitor has to be checked and so on. I was very pleased with that. I opened it and set it up with no issues. Yea the stand is a bit wobbly and it looked to me like it was not level, maybe its the picture frame i have on the wall thats not level. Anyways, here are some pics of my setup although i havent finished everything yet due to back to work early today. I used to have two 23.6"s in my room and now moved everything to the living room, managed to find a way to hide all my cables and its going to be pretty neat once done except the cables running behuind the screen(DVI PWR TrackIr and Webcam)....here are some pics and i will post more once everything is done.

Word Not Allowed: im considering getting an arm, maybe yours, but i need one that attaches to the table and does not extend the panel fwd, i kind of need it to be as far back as possible as my table is not huge. I think yours can do that based on the pictures you posted. Can you confirm that? Also does it rotate so i can have the panel level with the horizontal plane? And, do you have any pictures on the screwdriver mod you used to open it up with little damage?

Thanks

pd: the rest of the pics will have to wait since i cant upload them(too big) and i cant upload them to picasa from here either.

The stand is wobbly and not level, that is correct. It usually hangs onto to right side. That is why I said you need a decent VESA stand for this baby. A cheap one 20bux one will do, but there are better solutions as you noticed...

For ya:

Also does it rotate so i can have the panel level with the horizontal plane?

Hope this answers this:

And yeah, to the left it can rotate up to portrait. All cables are nicely stowed and don't interfere. Ever.

Sorry, no pics of my mod (never thought someone would ask for this), but it is REALLY easy: just see the width of your screwdriver head, then cut with scissors a piece of hard plastic out of some packaging (USB stick, mouse, many hardware devices, any kind of blister pack, just dig in your trash a bit Big%20Grin.gif ) and cut it a bit wider than your screwdriver head, and about 4cm in length. Then just bend it in the middle, and "wear" it over a screwdriver, putting a scotch tape around the screwdriver and the upper plastic to hold it in place a bit, just make couple of turns around the screwdriver (it won't be God knows how stable but it'll do, because all you need to do is stick the screwdriver in and push it in right direction - see the link I gave you).

Alright got it. I cant seem to find any good place here in canada to buy a vesa stand so i think i might put in some overtime and make some extra bucks to buy the arm. Especially when the kitchen is right to the left so i could swing it out and point it to the left to watch something. I had a couple of questions but i cant remember now what they were.

Oh yea, so i ran battlefield quickly yesterday to see how many fps i would get and got in between 40-50s but i didnt play it long enough or get into a heavy fire situation to see. This was at the highest settings and 4xmsaa. Now i noticed it used almost all my video memory and i take it it is due to such high resolution. So here are my questions:

1: i have a gtx 285 1gb layin around, if i were to add this to my system along with the 580 would that benefit me in any way for any game and fsx?

2: are there any other different tweaks aside from your software guide that would benefit us with this AWESOME display?

Thanks.

I think it would in the sense of the memory and performance, especially in other games. But since I never used SLI, I really have no idea what I'm talking about, and this is only what I've read about it.

Not that I know of. The only other thing is the calibration, you either leave it as it is, or you get a Spyder4Pro. You can run calibrations in games too, there is a trick for that. Otherwise calibration is only kept for the desktop and programs, not 3D games.
