Ask either on OCN or 120hz.net. More chance to find someone from Canada there than here.

Many thanks Word Not Allowed ------> U Da Man! <--------- Quote from the OCN forum "In Canada, there is no Customs or duties for complete LCD colour monitors." end Quote. Whooo Hooo !!!! There are going to be come Cats Leaping in my Office later this month!!!!!

I got charged customs and i live in the gta. Monitor came from korea thru the us then into hamilton. Customs was 24 something since the declared value was 100. U can ask ur seller to put whatever value you want. Hope this helps.

Nice! I've seen a bit of chat about these monitors.

I got a good deal, so I ended up with a U2711. FSX looks amazing at 2556x1440. Takes a bit of resources on my machine. Obviously I need to tweak more to get it running better like you Word Not Allowed.

I am thinking about going to a GTX680.

John,

I felt some performance drop going from 1920, but it was all well worth it on the big screen. Good luck!

Word Not Allowed, just wondering what settings you have in active sky 2012. i tried installing one of the themes with max settings(4096 textures) and the rest in max, with the settings as per your guide and i was getting a lot of artifacts and frames dropping to low teens with the ngx in flytampa kbos.

of course this is using the yamakasi

I am not using AS2012 clouds (both 4096 and 2048) as they have abysmal performance for me. Instead I'm on REX clouds with 2048 resolution.

Did you do controlled tests? I am on the verge of AS2012, but if the texture performance is slow, I'll stick with ASE+REX-E.

I'm disappointed Ben, don't you know me at all yet? :o

AS2012 has better weather depiction than ASE also, it's why I'm using REX clouds + AS2012 weather engine.

Costa do you get a big performance hit when flying at night with several cloud layers low vis and rain? I just did an approach into cysj in canada 1sm +ra br ovc004. And the fps was never close to 30. It was more in the high teens and not smooth. This is with dxt5 clouds and as2012 textures. Which addons do you have with regards to scenery?

Thanks

Alejandro,

I did tests with AS2012 textures when it came out. I concluded, for myself, that AS2012 performs worse with same clouds than does REX2 (and I did use more than one cloud texture set). For that reason I never used it again as texture app.

Of course, I can't keep 30fps always, I think I stated this often enough, but in the NGX cockpit, I am usually doing around 20-25 on the landing with some hard clouds. I didn't fly night for long, so can't tell, but don't remember it differing a lot.

Sorry i spelled your name wrong. Ok got it. I will try using rexe textures again and see how that goes for a while. I was flying the turbine duke with the rxp 530 in fsx seattle with orbx na and ut usa active and also i got the frame drops when there was broken layers. If i switched to spot view and pan around quickly i also got spikes and artifacts until i guess the system caught up loading everything. I guess im going to have to live with for now since we have such a high res screen(love it btw). Until i upgrade again in a year or so.

Thanks again Word Not Allowed.
