installing flight on a new computer

Featured Replies

Hi all, I am going to get a new computer and was wondering how I can reinstall flight on my new system . also if anyone here has done that already. Will I loose all my progress will I be asked to pay again ?

Me!

You can have it installed in two machines. Make sure you backup "Career" from the old machine, and paste it on the right folder when you complete your 2nd FLIGHT install.

You'll have to play the two initial missions, but after that you can exit FLIGHT and use the old Career folder :-)

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

And of course you won't have to pay again if you use the same GFWL login as on your old computer: all DLC you bought is linked to that account.

You probably could also copy the DLC folder from your old computer and put it all in the DLC folder of your new PC: then you won't have to download the DLC again. However, I am not really sure if that works: I did manage to move my DLC folder though this way on my PC, even though the program said that changing the DLC folder would require me to download it all again.

Important update of this post: After installation of Flight on the netbook I checked the Pilot Profile and the Aerocache Hunt screens and saw no difference. I just checked the Missions and Challenges and they show as not being completed. So copying of the Career folder is indeed necessary. I hope I didn't cause anyone any grief.

Hi,

Regarding copying the Career folder:

I just installed Flight on a netbook and it appears that there's no difference between my accomplishments on either my desktop or the netbook. I didn't copy anything. I was hoping that the default Aerocaches would be once again available on the netbook as I stumbled across many of them originally. Wasn't the case though. As both computers are on a shared network something may have been automatically copied over but if so it happened without my participation or knowledge.

@jandjfrench

what's the technical specifications of your netbook?

I would like to know if I can install Flight in the mine.

Thanks!

Hi,

It's a Acer Aspire One 722. According to MS it does not meet the minimum recommendations as far as memory or processor speed. However it does have a dual core processor and I'm pretty sure that's needed. It takes a long time for Flight to load but the only warning message I get is that there's insufficient memory. It has 2GBs but that's shared with the video. Before taxes and some recycling fee the netbook cost less than $200 on sale at Target. Flight runs smoothly with mostly low settings with a couple at medium. I haven't fooled with it much and likely won't but the only problem I noticed was an occasional audio drop out for a few seconds.

Ok, thanks for the info.

I will try in my HP Mini 210.

I dont care if I have to do missions and challenges again ....just want my content . but in game when I choose world alaska it asks me to sign in again and then when I do I get an error saying my computer is not recognized ,ie a match with my GFWL account.
