I tried the new 700 at a friend's house, and I am rather disappointed that we're unable to modify the flightplan in flight. Makes the FMS totally useless if an approach controller tells you to fly to a certain waypoint. My friend, as well as many FeelThere customers, (and me as a potential customer) would love to see this feature implimented, but alas, Victor has point blank refused to add it even going so far as saying that at one point, they considered not modelling any FMS whatsoever. So even though he knows that customers would love to have this feature he's not going to implement it.Unfortunately I have been spoiled by PMDG in that regard. Forgot that not all developers are like PMDG. Anyway, the new aircraft flies well, has a nice .air file and looks nice. I'll probably buy it myself, but its a shame that I won't be able to fly it online. Such a beauty too.

To modify a flightplan, use the Flightplan page (not the Legs page). You can add waypoints and delete waypoints from that page. If the controller gives you a "direct to", use the Legs page and select the waypoint to the scratchpad and then place it in the active waypoint line at the top of the screen. You and Victor must have had some kind of failure to communicate, because what you are "asking for" is already there.

Oops... :-badteeth I must say I've been there myself...

Well, Lets see here:From Victor:>>>>>>>On the FPLN page you can input speed and crossing restrictions and also you can use any of the existing waypoints to fly direct, but there is no option to insert waypoints.Thank youVictor<<<<<<<<<http://www.iemit.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC...s=FMS,WaypointsAlso read this topic:http://www.iemit.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=698So you see, I know you can fly direct to an Existing waypoint in the Flightplan, but its not possible to insert a brand new waypoint. That's what I was talking about.Still, the plane is nice and flies well. All three versions.BTW, I was simply reading those forums and I am NOT one of the posters there.

OK, I see what you are trying to get at. Yes, the FMC cannot "insert" a new waypoint between two existing waypoints. What it does do is "overwrite" a new waypoint over an existing waypoint. So if some online controller gives you a new fix to fly to out of the blue, it is not impossible to comply using the FMC, it is a pain in this particular situation to have to rewrite the rest of the flightplan back in if the rest of the flightplan is to remain the same, but it is not impossible nor "totally useless".

can somebody tell me how well you can see the gauges in the VC? the 200 had small and blurry gauges, is it fixed? Id like to be able to read them in the VC and this is the only thing keeping me from buying it right now... thanks!

Anthony when flying online if the waypoint given by the controller is not in your FMC and you are using FS Navigator come out of VNav get the waypoint(if it is a VOR)frequency from FS Nav put it into Nav 1 and set your course accordingly. If it is not a VOR get the heading from FSNav and away you go.Failing this the controller will give you the heading to the waypoint.Sounds difficult but is not. Good Luck.

I understand what you're saying, and that works perfectly. That's what I do for every freeware airplane I fly online (which isn't much.....its mostly the PMDG).My argument is that although FeelThere clearly has the Technical know-how to do this and release it as a simple patch (he did say that future projects will have "more realistic features" hinting at this very feature) they are bluntly refusing to do it. Secondly I fly with the ACS MD11 panel, and Bill Grabowski's panel, both of which are freeware, both of which has a TCAS that gives you climb/descent commands. It therefore can't be THAT difficult to include it. So, basically, that is FeelThere's decision not to appease customers who ask for additional features (just as another well known developer - "No new features will be added"). And that's ok. That's their business philosophy. If it works for them, then good.I'm just saying that I was spoiled by PMDG who would add a coffemaker to the VC if you ask them to. I had forgotten that not all developers were like that, and seeing that FeelThere is relatively new, I figured that they would follow the philosophy of PMDG.I was wrong. I accept that now.I will still purchase the CRJ though because, despite these small shortcommings, it is a nice model and it does fly well. Thanks for your comments and advice.

sorry Anthony I did mean LNav and not VNav. The CRJ is good but does need a lttle more attention than the PMDG or Airbus which is no bad thing.Good luck

I agree. If Feelthere wants to keep in pace with the big boys of add-ons, they better pull up their socks and rethink their strategy. By saying "No new features will be added" is the wrong way to go. One of these times companies like PMDG will make the same panels Feelthere is making. Which one you gonna buy. I am currently a beta tester for a company. The plane that will be released is going to be awesome. It will be PMDG quality and excellent attention to detail. I think it will do very well and the dev's have the goal of being one of the best in the industry. As it stands right now, the CRJ is going to collect dust. The entering a waypoint thing is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I dont even want to hear the reason "we created a plane that had balance between.........." whcih is the excuse they been giving to people. If you can build a plane properly, you shouldn't be asking that ridiculous price for it.

I agree with you completely. What really gets me raging areall these commercial aircraft releases for FS2004 with incomplete shoddy FMCs. If all I want is an aircraft that flieswell I can always choose plenty of freeware items which fly/handlejust as well, if not better. As a regular online flyer thisis areal NO NO.PMDG should go full steam ahead and produce the wholeBoeing series, CRJ, etc. They would clean the marketand make a lot of money in the process. They deserve itsince the appear to be one of the few developers who careand are able to produce top quality products.>I tried the new 700 at a friend's house, and I am rather>disappointed that we're unable to modify the flightplan in>flight. Well Feelthere isn't getting more of my business. Too bad. If they only knew how much I spend on this hobby. And not to mention the countless numbers that tend to think as I am.
