FCOM SP11.9 describes four different methods of entering waypoints. Not suitable for RNAV waypoints on SID, STAR, transition, approach.

Good way to enter NAT tracks or waypoints containing only degrees. FCOM11.31.15.

Easy way to quickly refresh your memory on the format is to look at wpNavFIX.txt file, all the shortcut fixes are listed there. The FMS doesn't do the shortcut, the navdata provides it.

5240N would work perfectly fine for lat/long points NAT or not. Have a look at FCOM11.31.15

 

Basically;
