Manual index

Featured Replies

Several times already, I had to look up items, cant find any keywords in the table of content and I cant find an index, and alphabetical list of keywords, anywhere. I cant imagine that in a 4000page manual, there's no list of keywords to find back items that are hidden somewhere in those 4000 pages. Can anyone tell me where I can find index pages for the manuals fo the PMDG 737NGX?

Cheers!

Maarten

In your PDF reader hit Ctrl-F and enter your search word and press Enter.

Kind regards

In FCOM provided by PMDG there is main table of content that shows chapters (vol1 pages3-4) and table of content before each chapter.

On page 9 vol1 you can find the description of page numbering. On page 8 general organization of FCOM and QRH.

If you understand the sctructure your search would be much easier.

With electronic documents becoming more and more prevalent, the old fashioned index is taking a back seat to CTRL+F. Sure, there's a certain creature comfort to it, but the reason we had them is because we couldn't have something else run a search for us. Now we have computers to search it faster than you could run to the index, find the entry, write the references down, and flip to the pages.

Indexes are really only meant for printed copies of things.

Boeing also sells a bookmarked version, which may include an index, but it was significantly more expensive.

Thanks guys, think that helps a lot already.

I got this concentration dyslexia and that manual is pretty much a hell to navigate through, already. I'm doing my best, but a little help every now and then is very welcome. ;)

Cheers!

What i did to make it easier for me. Was to edit all the content pages, so that each line, directly linked to the page it showed to.

Especially useful with the QRH. Now i'll just click what i want on the content page, and it takes me there.
