Rain

Featured Replies

Hello,

I decided to do some VFR I took to the skies and decided I wanted a weather change so I paused my FSX and changed the weather to rain, when I looked on my wind screen there were brillaint rain droplets on my wind screen but as soon as I un paused they disappeared

Any ideas

Thanks

It was 3D and I used Zinertek World Environment to do it.

My understanding is VC raindrops take up too many resources so it is not used in FSX. It was available in FS9.

Best regards,

Jim

I think we need a screenshot. Like the guys already said, FSX doesn't offer any VC rain effect on a general basis. Some models incorporate it, mostly GA planes, while e.g. the PMDG J41 offers it on a small airliner. Unfortunately, the high resource demand seems to lead to graphical problems with her on some systems.

I mean, I would love to see an addon adding it to any plane.

Thought I once read the lack of VC rain drops is because FSX limited the amount of effect a modeler can use and they use the limit with other more important effects.

Dimi, the two fixes you've posted don't add the effect. They just cure some textures on planes which e.g. receive intransparent windows when it's raining and things. Right you are on the L-39, that's a well done plane also offering VC rain.

Thanks for posting the screenshots. I wonder if the drop effect just happens because the 'animation' itself is paused.

Paused Fsx Changed weather to rain and it was like that till I unpaused

Interesting.. how did you get those raindrops on the window in the first picture?

Again, it's per model. The Lotus Sim L-39 happens to offer VC rain effects (and ice, and neat reflective cracks, and fog)
