The Next Eagle Dynamics DCS Modules

Later this year, we will offer:
A-10A: DCS Flaming Cliffs
Su-25: DCS Flaming Cliffs
F-15C: DCS Flaming Cliffs
Su-27: DCS Flaming Cliffs

These modules will feature:
1- Detailed 3D model (high polygon / high res textures)
2- 6 DOF cockpit
3- Advanced Flight Model (AFM)
4- Same level of cockpit system detail as the Lock On: Flaming Cliffs aircraft

We plan to release each at $19.99 USD.

We are releasing these modules for the following reasons:
1- It allows users access to these aircraft that do not own, or want to own, Lock On.
2- It allows users to buy just the aircraft they are interested in, without having to purchase the full Flaming Cliffs product.
3- It allows us to make these aircraft available to a much larger audience on Steam, Origin, GameFly and other digital retailers.

We have not yet come to a decision regarding the availability of the new advanced flight models to the FC3 aircraft. While there is discussion of making this available as an FC3 upgrade at a lower cost than the full module, I can say with confidence that they will not be made available for free given the large time and financial investment. When a final decision is made we will make an announcement.

Other FC3 aircraft will be improved as well (like the Su-27, Su-25, F-15C and A-10A). When they are further along, we will discuss them.

We will develop a balance of lighter "DCS Flaming Cliffs" modules with more detailed/realistic "DCS" modules. The "DCS Flaming Cliffs" modules allow us to develop the more detailed "DCS" titles in a more iterative way. As such, we will continue to develop detailed simulation like A-10C. The next such "DCS" title will be F/A-18C.

Improved Visual Effects

We understand that some of the visual effects (particularly for weapons like cluster bombs) are causing a significant performance reduction for some. We are now in the process of adjusting the effects to work in the new Image Generator (IG) that we believe will alleviate this issue.

Speaking of new effects, we are working on new/improved wing tip vortices. I've attached a work in progress image.

Update - 22 June 2013

We have completed our internal discussion of the availability of the "upgraded" Flaming Cliffs aircraft and we have decided to make them available for free to Flaming Cliffs 3 customers. We believe that this will add a very high level of new content to the FC3, it will avoid duplicate aircraft types, and we hope it will broaden the appeal of FC3 to an even larger audience.

28 June 2013 - DCS News Update

Work continues on DCS version 1.2.5. You can read the list of planned changes here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=108764

Kinney Interactive dropped their press release about their DCS: F-35A project this week. A Kickstarter program for this project has also started. You can read more about it from their official page here: http://www.kinneyinteractive.com/#!d...tning-ii/c1bom

As a companion to the DCS: P-51D Mustang, and further our goal to broaden the scope of DCS to include multiple eras of aviation, work has been moving forward on the DCS: Fw 190D-9. I've attached some Work In Progress (WIP) renders of the "Dora" cockpit.

5 July 2013 - DCS News Update

Work on testing and debugging of DCS ver. 1.2.5 continues. Depending on how debugging goes, we hope to release 1.2.3 sometime in July 2013.

Our efforts to update some of the older models continues. Given the number of units in DCS, and that there are many legacy models (some dating all the way back to the original Lock On), this is a long and ongoing process. One new model that we have heard many of you asking about is the Su-33. I've attached some very early work-in-progress renders of the new Su-33 model. We have no release ETA for this yet.

12 July 2013 - DCS News Update

This past week we have primarily been debugging DCS ver. 1.2.5. Progress is being made and it is still our hope to have it released before the end of this month. This is quite a large update, so naturally it is taking longer to debug than the earlier, smaller updates.

Other parts of our team are working on new elements for Combined Arms. Two of many new features includes a radar display for radar-guided air defense systems and more realistic fire control systems for armored units. I've attached an early work in progress image of the new radar display.

To better support new title like UH-1H and the upcoming Mi-8MTv2 helicopters, we are also developing the means for infantry to load and unload from them. We believe this will add a whole new level of game play for those modules.

Our effect artists are busy improving many effects for both their visual appeal and performance. As mentioned last week, one example are new wing tip vortices. As more are completed, I will be sure to post them in future updates.

Yesterday, Steam started their Summer Sale that includes both A-10C and Black Shark:

[glow=red,2,300]MEGA[/glow] Friday Wags update July 19

19 July 2013 - DCS News Update

For today's news update, I've gone pretty heavy on the pretty pictures. I've attached new images of:

5- New images of the Nevada map. This past week we started rebuilding the Nevada map with the new map tools, but it is still early and very rough... a lot of tuning and tweaking to still be done. Thankfully, we are nearing the end of this long journey and it is on track to be released later this year (seriously). I'm sure many of you have lots of questions about the map and the technology behind it, but I'm afraid I have no answers for you at this time. I have no direct contact with the map team and no access to the map build. However, as the map nears release, I'm sure I will have more information to pass along.
