Best combination of payware to try and "emulate" ORBX scenery for the rest of the United States?

Bought and installed the Cloud9 stuff today and cautiously pleased, but will probably buy SceneryTech soon.

As in today.

There's no question that Cloud9 does a better job at placing vegetation and understanding what should be where in the Colorado Rockies - parked at KTEX, the mountains actually looked the way they should, but I was more than a bit taken aback at what happened with roads. As in they're everywhere, starting and ending in the middle of nothing, draped over the tops of peaks and ridges and just looking jarringly out of place. What I seemed to gain in one way, I lost in another.

Ah, well...

Did you position the Cloud9 correctly?? See above posts. It makes a difference.

Sandwiched between UTX Vegetation and Urban. It's certainly possible that I messed something up somewhere, but I don't know what/where.

Yeah, that's OK. I'd suspect there's no other foul up. Just the normal for GEX UTX?? It's been a looonngg time since I flew anywhere other than Orbx scenery areas in the Rockies so I can't really comment further about any other possible foul up, but again I suspect not.

Turn off the Cloud 9, S-Tech whatever and take a look. I'll bet the roads are no better.

I need to redo the whole flight that I did from Telluride north to the Montrose/Black Canyon area, then east over Monarch Pass and on to the Front Range. The area around Telluride was riddled with roads that weren't there with just UTX, as were various other areas as I flew. I'm used to some randomly placed "roads to nowhere" with UTX, but not to this extent.

Yesterday, after installing SceneryTech, I tried a flight along the Front Range, basically north from KBJC and over the foothills down to Estes Park/Rocky Mountain NP, switching between STech and Cloud 9. As with the other flight, this is country I know intimately, both from the ground and the air, and I think I can safely say that while either is better than just GEX/UTX, Cloud 9 have the more accurate depiction. In neither case did I see an unusual number of roads over mountain peaks on this flight.

I also did a quick A/B on the ground at Telluride and again, Cloud 9 did the better job - except even from the ground some of the road anomolies I saw on the first flight were obvious only with Cloud 9.

For now, I think I'll just relax and fly some with the GEX/UTX/Cloud 9 combo and see how it works out. Most of my flying is still going to be in Orbx territory, but I'd at least like to not be constantly avoiding my home state because it looks so bad.

Speaking of Telluride are there any good versions of it available for FSX? I so badly want to fly into there. Starting to think I need to make a thread to put together a list of good freeware and payware airports available between the two coasts.
