June 24, 201213 yr Hey guys this isnt a PMDG NGX problem exactly but since this is a very helpful community and i have the NGX instaled (it could be a contributing factor) i have decided to post and ask for help here. i have been experiencing very long load times in FSX to start a new flight.! it usually runs smoothly up till 28% then takes a very long time >10mins.. the problem i think started after installing REX essentials. this never happened before with REX overdrive. tonight i uninstalled my entire FSX and PMDG recoomended , and reinstalled my FSX , REX Essentials an my two latin VFR caribean sceneries an im still encountering the same exact long load time also each time i start FSX, i have to press shift+F12 to engage ENB (which i never had to do before an i cant pan out in virtual cockpit mode to more then .30) an ideas on how to correct any of these issues will be very helpful! June 24, 201213 yr Have you got an antivirus on your system, if so make sure that you have set up an exception for the FSX folder or just turn off the antivirus when you are playing FSX. I use Microsoft Security Essentials which is not a memory hog and just set up an exception which works well.
June 25, 201213 yr Author hey thanks for the reply i use microsoft essentials as well.. any ideas that could be causing the long load times , as well as the blurred textures , it has only happened since Rex essentials was installed. June 25, 201213 yr It's strange you should ask, I just had the same problem after a reinstall although I do not have Rex Essentials. FSX would take ages to show the first screen, then load up plane and then load textures. I would then have really bad mouse lag. I found out that is I closed Security Essentials then things would be fine which seemed strange as I had Security Essentials since it was released and never had a problem. I uninstalled MSE and then redownloaded and installed and it was fine after that. Never found out what caused it and just put it down to the fact that I had used ultra defrag to optomise my hard drive and MSE was having trouble scanning FSX on loading. Try deleting MSE and then redownloading but remember to put the excluded file for FSX. Could be a problem with a MSE update????? Hope this helps
June 25, 201213 yr This is typically due to large textures being loaded for scenery and/or WX addons. Since you just loaded REX, are you using the HD textures? George Morris
June 26, 201213 yr Defragmenting maybe ? I noticed a BIG improvement in FSX load time after running Ultimate Defrag. With it you can specify files and folders for "high performance" which I did for FSX so the file locations are optimised as well. UD is payware but a lot more sophisticated than basic Windows defrag in terms of options. I have noticed that more add-ons nowadays are recommending defragmenting before installing them. Cheers, Emile Bax.
June 26, 201213 yr Author thanks for the replies so far. Much appreciated. Yes im using HD textures. But at the end of the long load time, some of my textures are blurred. im gonna get ultimate defrag, an post back if their is any improvement. Any further suggestions will be gladly welcomed as this has never happened before REX essentials an is making flying my NGX impossible Sony Vaio VPCF110X Nvidia GeForce GT330M, i7Q720 @1.6-2.8Ghz 4Gb DDR3 1333Mhz Win 7 x64 Siddiq Ali
June 26, 201213 yr Does this happen all around the world? Try different continent, or even two different ones. If it goes normal, disable few addon scenery entries and give it a go. Narrow down the search and You will nail down the culprit. I had the exact issue two years ago, initially blaming AirHauler, but it was some scenery (or too much of it). Bartłomiej Ender

Yes i tried different airports on different continents an still the long load time persists and the blurry textures as well. i uninstalled REX essentials an problem resolved. However i used REX overdrive with all my Caribbean scneery addons before an i never had any problems or low frame rates! anyone experiencing problesm with ESsentials? June 26, 201213 yr There are lots of discussions on the Rex forum concerning this issue. Now that you have things narrowed down, check out the information in their support forum. Also sounds like FSX could need some tweaking. Have you followed the recommendations in the introduction documentation? If you have a nVidia card have you checked out Ryan's configuration recommendations using nHancer posted in the PMDG General Forum? George Morris

If I use the default texture set of REX essentials. I have no problems, but if I change something in the textures I have the same problem and very low performance. I'm still searching what the problem is. Eric Eric van Dorp
