New strange problem with WinXP

Featured Replies

Wilco! As soon as I am back home!

Ok, unfortunately the problem is back...

The second the internet connection is established the BSOD happens.

So, if that wasn´t the solution for my problem, I wonder why it worked flawlessly 2 or 3 times yesterday!

I tried to boot up the system 5 times tonight with no success...

I am really fed up!

hey...

You are infected... The protection you have, FREE, is junk.....

I build, and service computers for a living, well, just retired, but you more than likely have a Trojan...No..security essentials will NOT see it or report or remove it...

Solution...get good anti-virus...I suggest PcTools Spyware doctor/Anti-virus.

Good luck.

PS..You may need to install in safe mode, as your connection is already wacked...Go fast as you can so it updates, or you will need to beat the Trojan by connecting with a wireless dongle, hoping that you can update before the trojan jumps that too...

Thanks for the answer!

And you are probably right, I should go and get a new and good anti virus program...

But there is another thing I´d like to mention:

As I wrote above, I got things running again and I was able to download the QW Avro. I flew a few rounds and I noticed that their load manager wasn´t working. When I started it, a message came up, asking me to update Netframework to the latest version. I did that, and that was the point, when I ran into trouble again, the BSOD were back.

After further investigation in the internet, I found many forums in which users are complaining about Netframework messing up their Windows installation.

I also noticed that the BSOD still states IRQL not less or equal, but it is not AFD.sys this time, but RTL8187.sys.

I already reinstalled the network driver and did a fresh install of Netframework, but still no joy...

So probably the upgrade of Netframework led me into new trouble, it is so annoying!

Michael,

"As I wrote above, I got things running again"

What did you do?

FS9.1 is not causing your network PC problems, correct?

Have you contacted Microsoft about Netframework messing up your Windows installation?

Best Regards,

Vaughan Martell  PP-ASEL KDTW

You're absolutely right! FS9 works like a charm, and the Avro is a really fantastic addon!

My problem is, that I am absolutely no expert with computers, OS problems and tweaking. All I can do is searching the web. I was so happy that I got things sorted out, and now I am back into trouble again...

Do you really think I should contact Microsoft? Is there a kind of forum I could join to get some help?

I am using Mac computers/OS for years now and I am doing all my photo editing and music recording/production with Macs. And I never ran into comparable problems! Tweaking MSFS is part of my hobby, just us upgrading the hardware from time to time. But dealing with OS problems is something I really do not need at all!

Sorry, but I am really quite annoyed...

Michael,,

For Microsoft forums, start here to get to the one you need for WinXP problems:

Thanks!

I just found the correct German Microsoft support site, they charge 75,- EUR incl. VAT for email support.

I´ll take a look in the forum you suggested...

Netframeworks are up to 4.5 now...They don't typically cause network errors...

I still say that a virus is your problem...BSOD is typically related to hardware, not sorfware...Yours can also be a Vid driver issue that has crashed, BUT, it can be decieving, as a virus can and will cause these problems...Save your money...dump security essentials, and buy a Good virus program, or get a free trail..Most however are ###### today, including Trend, McAfee, norton, and AVG paid...PcTools is still my recomendation..as a reseller of it, I have installed and protected well over 2,00 comps with it trouble free..I swear by it....TIP...free trails don't always give you the needed definations to see and remove all Viruses/trojans.

I got it going again, finally! I hope this time it will be for longer than one day! I made several test flights with network weather injection, rebooted the system very often and everything is working perfectly!

I bought a 300 Mbit WLAN-Stick for 10 bucks, deactivated the onboard network in the BIOS and uninstalled all network drivers. Simple but effective solution! ;-)

It is a good feeling to be able to run FS9 again! ;-)

:good: Great great news, Michael. Welcome back!

BTW I also happen to have BSOD's, but not on a regular basis.

Studying the WinDbg logs and seeing ntoskrnl.exe as the culprit, I also suspect my network card or the drivers at least.

I will think of replacing it now, thanks for the inspiration, mate.

the IRQ less equal problem is a driver problem, back from years ago. I hoped it was cured.

scan the forums for reinstalling video drivers from clean or scratch.

I had it to, on AMD CPU.
