June 25, 201213 yr Funny - So I have been telling myself, ONE solid flight front to back in this bird with full planning and checklist would make the whole sidestep from GA to commercial well worth the price of admission. So for the past day or two I have been learning topcat, FSBuild, Aivlasoft (which I hadn't owned previously) and got it all dialed in with ASE etc. etc. Off I went from LOWI to LFMN... ... umm, I didn't know there was an offset / axis alignment deal going on in Nice! Ha. When I dropped out of the clouds on APP mode / Single CH, I was surprised to see that I was not aligned with the runway. I dropped AP and flew it in visual just fine ... but I was surprised nonetheless! So, the question is, is this still an issue? As I understand it, this is how it really is in the RW? http://forum.avsim.n...ve-bug-at-nice/ If it is how it really is, is it cheating to apply this magvar update? http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids.html ..and is it correct for APP light to extinguish if the PFD indicated I am dialed in to VOR/LOC GS? Any rate - it was an awesome flight and worth it all...even if I got smash bugs from here on out (I won't). Benjamin Van Eps
June 25, 201213 yr This type of approach is usually found at airports where there is some sort of noise abatement. I had this at ybcg in australia. It requires you to manually land the aircraft. Obviously... Cameron Lett
June 25, 201213 yr Author Is there anything anything within the radios that would keep one from trying to autoland - other than completely against regulations for non CAT II (or is it III) approaches? I mean, is there any sort of radio signature that the autoland system looks for or could you theoretically try to autoland on any ILS (and break rules etc). Of course, assuming your course and runway are in alignment. This one would abviously take you into the landscaping. Benjamin Van Eps
June 25, 201213 yr In default FSX scenery it moved to the right more than in real. http://forum.aerosof...09-lfmn-ils-4r/ That's why DA higher 60 than on 04L. Also LFMN has segregated runway usage: 04L/22R used for landings and 04R/22L dedicated for take off. Pilot sanity or loss of ILS signal above 50' RA if i recall correctly can prevent from autoland. June 25, 201213 yr Author HA - sorry. Pictures 2 and 3 are of two different approaches. I flew it again immediately to make sure I wasn't crazy and to take screenies of what I was seeing. The last picture was the one I landed. The 2nd picture I didn't land. Thanks for the info guys. 4L/22R is good information. I saw that on one of the charts I pulled up after posting this. Why produce an approach chart for 4R? Benjamin Van Eps

Why produce an approach chart for 4R? If 4L is closed for any reason such as replacing runway lights or plane stuck on runway etc then 4R can be used for landing Regards Nixon Thomas
