May 22, 200422 yr Has anyone tried this product yet and is it worth buying? Apparently it changes the FS9.cfg file to reflect the type of flying that you want to do.Airbus Al Kaupa Digital Storm purchased 8/17/2011; Win7x64: Asus P8P67 Deluxe; Intel i7 2600K@3,9 GHZ; nVidia GTX 560Ti; 8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Dominator; Power Corsair HX 750W; Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD; 300GB WD VelociRaptor; 1TB Seagate.

May 22, 200422 yr I haven't tried TweakFlight but I just bought TweakFPS and can honestly say it's a really nice program. Although it doesn't do anything that the experienced simmer can't do by manually updating the FS9.cfg file, there are a couple of advantages in using it. It's really, really nice to be able to switch between any of eight different fs9.cfg configurations with just a couple of mouse clicks - a real time saver. Don't like a couple of the preset settings in one, or more, of the different configurations? No problem, just change it to suit your needs with the built-in editor and it can be saved for future use. Decide later that you really don't want the changes you made? No problem again, just press the Restore button and everything is reset to the original values. And for anyone not experienced with updating the FS9.cfg file, this little program is a real joy to use. No need to worry about any of that "setting stuff" (now, where the heck is my FS9.cfg file anyway....) just click the situation you want and your all set to fly. So, my take is that there is really something for everyone here be they an real old-timer or a noobie.DougEdited 'cause I can't spel Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. May 23, 200422 yr Hi Doug,I tried the demo, and it seemed to work as advertised. Though it was kinda tough to see what the program could do as there are only two modes in the demo... IFR and original FS9.cfg.What perplexed me about the program is that when I finished choosing a profile I wanted, and then clicked on "Apply" the sim would then begin loading to a flight in the Cub off the coast of Kauai!! I don't have a flight like that saved. Did I miss something? Thanks,Greg
May 23, 200422 yr I, too, was a bit perplexed by that Greg. It's a flight that's installed with TweakFPS. But not a problem as there is an option in Settings to make the default flight whatever you want. And I agree that it's tough to get the "feel" of it with only two options I got it solely on the basis that I can set up parameters for IFR, VFR, and Megascenery just the way I want them and no longer have to fiddle with multiple .cfg files. That alone is worth it for me. But the more I use it the better I like it.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. May 23, 200422 yr Hmmm... hadn't messed with it the past couple of days and now Windows is giving me an error meassage when I click "Apply" in TweakFS. Says the problem is with the tweakfs.exe. I'll Remove, clean register, and re-install.I agree, Doug, this can be a real gem of a program. For the price I'll probably buy the full blown version... can save loads of time changing the FS9.cfg to work just as one wants for any particular kind of flying.Greg
May 23, 200422 yr Hello everyone,Just curious about the bottom line here regarding TweakFS - does it improve your FS2004 performance noticeably? In other words, do you see smoother performance with high-resolution SRTM mesh (e.g. 38M) and custom airport or city scenery or PMDG 737NG-600, 700,800,900 aircraft for example? And can you set your FS quality settings to max and still see an improvement in both visual quality and smoothness (no jumpiness when taxiing).John I love flying my "iddy biddy Jumbo" CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, socket 775/3GHz/1333MHz bus/6MB cache MOBO: Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP@n/Intel X38 chipset RAM: 4GB Kingston HyperX 1333MHz. rated 7-7-7-20, matched pair (2 x 2GB) GRAPHICS: Sapphire Radeon 5770HD 1GB (w/ fan) MONITOR: Samsung 24", 2494HM LCD wide-screen 1920x1080 SOUND: SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS HARD DRIVES: 1xWestern Digital WD1600JD SATA 160GB (primary/Windows XP and system boot drive) 1xWestern Digital WD3200AAJS SATA2 320GB (secondary/Flight Simulator 2004 running off WinXP Pro 32-bit, games video editing drive) 1xWestern Digital 500GB Black series SATA2 (Windows 7 64-bit: FSX is running off Win7; Windows XP Professional 32-bit) CASE: Antec Sonata III 500W OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit for FSX; Windows XP Pro 32-bit for other things.
May 23, 200422 yr "And can you set your FS quality settings to max and still see an improvement in both visual quality and smoothness (no jumpiness when taxiing)." No, sorry to say, but there is nothing magic about TweakFPS. Neither it, nor any other program, will improve FPS performance more than what we can do ourselves by a little (or a lot :-)) of manual tweaking. What TweakFPS does so well is simply provides a very easy way to manage the fs9.cfg file. And for those of us who do a lot of .cfg file changing, or for those who don't yet know how to do these tweaks on their own, TweakFPS is a really good solutionDoug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. May 24, 200422 yr I can't get the settings page to show up right on the desktop. It seems that the window is "cut" off. I can't see the apply button.'
